It's was just another smashing in a long list of humiliations year after year.

We seem to invite the mandatory three or four thrashings a year.

They all hurt.

As for this year verbs?! :)

A mandatory 3 or 4 thrashings do you reckon, V-Dogg? :P 8)

All I remember about that night was the fog.

I recall nothing else.

That thinking got me thru the season.

That's the way DUC. File it under the "it never happened" cabinet and throw away the keys.

Could be worse....could've been an Essendon* supporter queued up outside the MCG for Grand Final tickets on Preliminary final day 1999, listening to the game on the radio
Now that is hurt that lasts a lifetime!

Could have been slightly better for me...I had a Melbourne Storm/Carlton double for the GF. Pretty good odds. Damn Kangaroos...although to be fair, we shouldn't have been in the GF that year.

Yes, the only good thing about the night was getting in for free because my son was playing in an Auskick game at half-time. The worst part was a nearby Carlton supporter who was with a Hawthorn mate; not only did he literally describe every passage of play but kept making comments to his mate along the lines of "admittedly you guys are playing well but we're bloody hopeless" (not saying that wasnt the case of course)

To add insult to injury, my son wanted to stay to the final siren so he could see me squirm!

My most vivid memories of that vile evening are the freezing mist that went right through my heavy boots and layers of clothes and the seating fiasco that saw Hawthorn supporters get tickets in the Carlton Social Club area, some of who subsequently tried to move me from my seat!

I guess it luckily destracted me from what was going on during the match. Even Roughead play well, and he is nowhere.

But I do have empathy for them, after all they still have Bloody Jeff as their president and a small rodent as their coach. And of course they have the worst jumper in the league.

It was the most glaring example ever, of me watching a game and thinking to myself early in the game "our boys are being comprehensively toweled in terms of game plan here, and we have no chance of winning".

I remember it well unfortunately. Train was late so got there a few minutes into the first qtr. I still have visions of all these Hawthorn players streaming into space from a stoppage without any Carlton player near them.

It was one of only a very small number of games i have ever left before full time. The crowd at 3/4 time departing was as big as you would normally see at the end of a game at the dome. Made it home in time to watch the last qtr of the delayed telecast on TV to complete the nightmare.

Yep, I also left just before 3/4 time. It was packed and the car was parked atleast 5 km away. I remember going to the game thinking we're on a roll and we'll easily have the hawks measure. What a reality check we got that night. It look like the boys we so much slower than the hawks it was frustrating. What's worse, had a bunch of hawk kid supporters right behind me talking all the way through the match.

Yeah... no problems.

Remember, the Hawthorn game - was BJ (Before Judd)... we are now in the days of PJ (Post Judd) - no more floggings!

i actually remember catching a glimpse in the distance of bluehammer, quite the vision of sartorial splendour complete with long navy overcoat, prior to the game walking along the concourse with two other TCers (can't quite remember who).

the fog + supercillious hawks in our social club area led to a surreal atmosphere.

following the mass exodus of blues fans at 3/4 time the inept gate attendant allowed general admission dork fans to move into our allocated area behind the goals at the latrobe st end.

the combination of their gloating, their goading, another belting, pagan's ineptness, Ackland's performance etc got all too much ...

at the end of the game something had to give. in some sort of demonic, possessed state i paid out on pagan ...

remember walking away in the cold, biting dark in some sort of embarrassed stupor ...

ended up being my last game of the year ...
