Tough to pick just 4 when we have had so many great players , but in my 43 years of watching The Blues I would pick:

John Nicholls
Alex Jesaulenko
Bruce Doull
Stephen Kernahan

1. Big Nick always has to head up these sorts of lists and always will.
2. Jezza was a freak and if he played to day would be a freak. Better than Judd.
3. Bruce Doull nothing more to say.
4. This is hard but for sheer big game winning ability and reliability, Wayne Johnson

Sorry to the rest but I can only go back 50 years.

Going back to the 60's

John Nicolls - a colossus and everybody walked tall when he was on the field, plus he could really play!

Jezza - a freak, could do anything, brilliantly!

Johnson - brought us flags, tough and bloody good!

Kouta - simply unbelievable.

Left the ground bout 15 mins into the last!!
with Caulfield Rover.

I too can only go back to the 60s, knowledge before then not good enough. I never saw Nicholls play, but from everything I have read and heard, and from what my dad says (who saw his entire career), he is by a long way Carlton's best ever player (and captain).

Nicholls
Doull
Jezza
Silvagni

Apologies to Kernahan. Silvagni gets the gig because he was one of the top full backs of all time, in an era that included Dunstall, Ablett, Lockett and Carey.
