I reckon the young Wayne Hughes and his support team will make the biggest contribution...

Regularly bagged by many, yet far too prematurely, but this year with the right game plan and development team in place, his less obvious picks outside number one will start to show their wares - even though our expectations even now should be minimal.

We will be the youngest team in the AFL - look at who's left from 2-5 years ago. Anything off the bottom, and as long as we're competitive for 22 rounds, it'll be a great achievement for all involved.

But alas, deep down I'm still expecting bigger things! 8)

Murphy and Gibbs will be big improvers, Jammo will be solid - which is an achievement of note.

Waite will suprise a few who have forgotten how good he is.

Bentick will also suprise a few who don't have him in their first 22's.

I'd be suprised if Hartlett or Blackwell wear much blue this year.

Grigg and Bower are the most likely of the 2nd tier young blokes to make an impact.

Unkown quantities who have the ability to make a significant contribution or equally none: Cloke, Hadley and Saddington.

What is it about Edwards? What are his real strengths and weaknesses?
Haven't seen much of him except for a couple of games for the bullants on abc.

Jammo, Jacko and Asakie - although Jacko is probably there or thereabouts already

There's a poll on the CFC Website asking from which of these players we expect the greatest improvement ..

The choice is

Walker
Russell
Fisher
Betts
Waite

I really don't know which way to go ..

Givens:

Judd
Hadley
Kruezer

Definite improvers:

Gibbs
Murphy
Santa
Waite

Probable improvers:

Anderson
Jackson
Betts
Fish

Smoky's:

Austin
Edwards
Benjamin
Grigg

All Ican say is WOW!

Even if 4 of these players improve and develop our side we are going places in 2008

Good call verbster.
It was great that Ratten gave Jamo and Jacko a go.
I see lots of upside with both of them and hope they get the game time they need to continue improving.
The list from bluebeard is fair.
I think that Grigg should be in the "probables" and I would add Bower to that group too.

My tip is Hampson, it will take him a few years to reach his potential but this year he will certainly step up!

jamo and austin i hope would play most of 08.
the blues need to develop two key defenders.
both are 193 cent plus and both can play. if we breed both now in 08 look out 09 onwards.
having the midfield we have with judd, stevo, murph, gibbs etc etc and the flanks covered with the likes of simpson, hadley, grigg, walker etc etc and the forward line with fev, betts, fish, kreuzer and with ewards coming on its the defence we have to develop.
all the top teams have two key defenders,
geelong, scarlett, harley
westcoast, glass, hunter
if we can breed jamo and austin watch out. having anderson, soctland, bower, sentanta and thornton it gives us the miising link.
what does everyone think with this?
are jamo and austin the key? or iam missing the last hole the blues have.
