The Age article also mentions that Shaun Rhen has moved on from the Lions. He might be a reasonable option for a ruck / assistant coach.

There's a Rehn thread already going for 3 days on this board.....he has retired from football to live and work on the land....see below...

I have been going about this dud for years. An immeasurable contribution to our cause my arse. Only in the job thanks to Pagan who saw him as a no threat nothing.

How he won a Brownlow in '90 still baffles me. SOS should have won it.

Piss off and never ever come back!

He was just the right height for Denis to use as a drink table.

Be fair, he was credited with getting Eddie Betts, fit and back on track after being quite disillusioned.
So that's one thing. Easy for us to bag, but how many of you guys would have had a job like that with you when you are away on holiday with the family for the only 4 weeks you will possibly get for another year.

Might have been the only thing but....we chose Libba, he contributed, wasn't working, we move on.
No need to get to the level of bagging some are throwing about.

If Lance has such a great football brain, why not put him in the place Libba has just vacated .. he won't need his knee doing that, and we won't have to keep a place on our list that could be given to someone who has a more definite future

thanks for your efforts BUT never really impressed me.
Kind of ironic that teh best tackler the game has seen still couldnt teach our guys how to do it....................either a case of you can lead a horse to water but you cant make it drink or you cant turn a clydesdale into a racehorse.

Can't attest to his coaching abilities, but he's a shit bloke.

I vividly remember the incident at an after work function in Taxi/Transport. Whilst in the midst of my accompanying hotties, I sincereley congratulated him (completely coherent) on a good 2004 season (we were 10th and on the up!) with a genuine smile on my face and offered him a drink. Literally, his words were "f$%k off," I responded with a soft concerned "calm down I'm just thanking you mate," and tapped his shoulder. He knocked my hand away and said "don't f#$$%*# touch me." I was totally shocked, as were the girls. I can understand tweakers annoying players and the like, but I have utmost respect for my club and it's serviceman, and was geniune in my approach.

So for not imparting your off-field hardness to our young list, and your services as an ambassador of the club in a Carlton polo whilst in public...

Nah I won't say it.

This is utterly disgraceful if true (And I have no reason to believe it's not)

Not good enough.

that increased both my skepticism that this story was true, and my admiration for you as a human being if in fact it was

don't know much about how good an assitant he was but i do remembert one story which is slightly ironic now....

a number of years ago one of the carlton players (i think it was christou) told me that during the previous weeks game against the bulldogs at Princess Park (which the bulldogs won), libber, who was taging ratten, was sledging ratten all day and was saying things like, "you've won 2 best and fairest what a joke ..."..."can't believe you've won two b and fs, they must give them away here..." etc

i remember this story cause i was at the game and saw libber mouthing off at ratten all day, and when i was told what he was saying was really pissed off cause ratten was one of my favourite players.

now who's had the last laugh.

Dude, I'm 27 years old. I work in travel that deals specifically in the student/youth market, and at the time was also working in bars/clubs over weekends. I am not making an outlandish statement in saying I was in the company of very-very attractive females (although I must add since being overseas recently and as a result putting on weight, my stocks have diminished somewhat!!), just merely adding to the story some facts that make it a hell of a lot more interesting, and also add to the humiliation I felt for being in such astute company when I got brutally rejected by MY club's embassador. :-D :-D

KK, read all my posts. I've never made a statement such as this so I can only hope you believe it is true. I would never defame someone to gain attention or the like. Believe me I was shattered when I did it in such a genuine way, had barely had a few drinks, and was told to f$#$ off after giving a massive compliment to a complete random.

Like I said, I have no reason to disbelieve you. The story just confirms to me the sort of person I always thought he was.

I don't think Libba added much in his time at Carlton and therefore I'm not at all unhappy to see him moved on.

Well, remember he did say that if he were made coach he would get the team motivated and toughen them up.

Obviously worked for the years prior while he was an assistant
