Carey doesn't watch football, he's just defending a bloke he has plenty of time for. We watch Carlton and we can see players no longer hitting up Fev 3 out from 50m and we can see JR playing as a lead up fwd flank.

I'm sick of the constant defending of Pagan. He ran this club into the ground, and the players putting the effort in now is not a mark against their character it's a reflection of the coach. Don't get me started on the back-patting given to Pagan for his honourable exit, fancy a guy not lambasting the club who's tipping 800 large into his pocket over the next 18 months... what a trooper.

couldn't agree more 944. Pagan was a two faced prick. he had one face for the media and one for the dressing room. whilst that's normal for all coaches, he was the master politician at it. please fellow tc'ers......feel NO flowering sympathy for him.

The improvement in the kids is astonishing over two weeks since Pagan left. I can't wait for Josh to come back at CHF and be the lead up target, instead of being bypassed.

Don't get carried away we still lost two games to mediocre opposition.

I know DP had to go, and I'm pleased Ratten's got the job, but in reality there's little difference in the results of the two collingwood games.

You can put any kind of spin you like, but in reality the team was going okay until they dropped their heads and got smacked a couple of times. Maybe that was Pagan, maybe it was too long with no success but whatever the reason, we're still in a similar spot to round 11.

Hows this for "spin"?
The team that lost by 24 points earlier this year had an average age of 23 and 11 months with 76 games experience.

The team that went out on Saturday was over a year younger on average per player (22/10) and an average games total of 48!
Apparently that was the youngest Carlton team for 37 years.
Whats more, they were the best part of 2 years younger than the team that we were leading for most of the game.

If you see no difference in the 2 teams and the spirit they played with, you're watching a different team to me.

Maybe so, but have a look at the games experience in each match.

Collingwood - 88 games in both.
Carlton - 76 the first time, and 48 on the weekend.

That's interesting...

(and Blue Vain got in first)

and to be honest we were right in it up until Fev left the ground and Saddington went back to Rocca... 8)

I quoted this site for the stats and scores of the game. I agree it also mentions the average age and games played, but I'd be doing a bit more research on that before quoting in for absolute truth :? .

For example, it says we played 14 players with 50 games or under experience. Sounds good, yeah? Find me 14 players with less than 50 games under their belts on that list. Also mentions the 150+ gamers at 0 but we played Saddington and Houlihan from memory :? .

I'm happy it was the youngest team in 37 years, and I believe they're playing well under the circumstances, but let's not fool ourselves that Ratts in and DP out is the answer to all our preyers just yet.
