Jacko -huge tank good disposal -must play for the rest of the season
Hollywood Fevola
Carrazzo -excellent again
Betts - multi-dimensional more than a forward pocket
Murphy good job on montagna
Lappin 250 th -a very good servant
Fishers marking and kicking has improved considerably
Setantas 2 goals and celebration
Another game for bower gibbs and good to see Paul back himself and kick a goal
The effort compared to last week - huge difference-
Centre square work much better than last time we played against the Aints
Compettitive and kicked 100 points and had a spread of goalkickers
Cons
Injury to Wiggo - does have upside gives another a go
Saddo doesnt know how to play loose man in defence
Jacobs /hampson being kept from player because of Ackland

Jackson's performance was the highlight of the match for me. Interesting to see what a kid can do when left on the ball for most of the match instead of spurts on and off the bench. The fact that he was on Robert Harvey made his effort even more admirable. I think that we have finally found another midfielder.

Pros - Watching Barb on the telly call Gehrig a "poofter" after he kicked his last goal - Priceless.

Pros
Eddie showing the midfield dash he will be able to produce more often with another preseason or two under his belt.
Lappin playing a very good game.
The team kept coming

Cons
As the coach said at his media conference not being able to promote Jacobs and Jamieson.

Do you have a link? why can't we promote a rookie for Cloke? Jacko is a nominated rookie so he doesn't count. (Could be wrong though)

You can hear the press conference here

Agree with all the pros and cons but one huge pro I thought was Murphs game, played a ripper.

Hmmm, the rookie situation is interesting. Has the elevation of Young stuffed up the chances of Jacobs and Jamieson playing?

Pros
Jackson - better than most of our young listed players.

Stayed competitive and ran out the match.

Cons
Some of Thornton and Saddingtons efforts.

Can't complain too much with an improved performance.

Positives:

Great game by Jacko (long way to go but he moves very similar like Simon Black) Not noted for pace but clever is making space so he can deliver accurately.

Bower and other youngsters showing signs.

Cons:

Setanta needs to be played back and Waite up forward which means Ackland to stay in the side and to get support from someone else (Jacobs if we can promote)

Waite has to play forward.

Bannister can only play back in a negative role. In traffic he can not tag. He is better suited playing in the back line like he did on Brad Johnson. Or alternatively don't play him at all!

Saddington has to go but he may be saved next week as we need to match up Rocca and Cloke. We may need Saddington however I'd rather have Setanta play back, drop Saddington and promote Jacobs to support Ackland.

Hope Grigg plays well tomorrow as he would be a perfect replacement for Wiggins.

Noticed how Carrazzo does not get tagged? because too many of his dispossals do not hurt the opposition and at times he causes turnovers. Great at finding the ball but really needs to improive his skills.

i thought that a lot of positives came out of the game with a good 1st quater everyone decided to man up and started to unite as 1.

jackson played extremely well was rather happy in the way he played but looked as if he tired in the last quater but he showed spirit and looks hungry to play

eddie betts never looked like giving up and played brilliant as he has done so far this year

fisher top effort and should have been rewarded a bit more i think

Fev did well and look as if he wanted the ball

last quater showed tremendous courage amongst the whole team and possibly could have pulled the win given more time when saints started playing keepings off carlton lifted and said it aint over yet and kicked a couple more i thought this is the attitude we need never to give up...now if the could take this into 4 quaters we will start winning more...

I personelly think after today is not to go for #1 draft pick but start winning and trying to get a settled team and unite as 1... fiirst quater showed if we can play as one we can be very cometitive...

cons of the game well

bower he still looks as if he is lost and scared to getin there and get the ball i think he is not quite ready to be playing afl

we didnt use the middle of the ground and spent to much time going up the side (maybe a confidence thing)

over all i think it is a very big turn around from last week the team looked more positive and they gave it all

pretty good turn around from a week ago

cheers
oz

Pros:
Big effort after last week.
I thought Jackson's effort was great and he only has to maintain that level to be a handy player.
Betts in the midfield surprised me. I didn't think he had the motor and as someone has already said, another couple of pre-seasons and he will only be bett(er)
Fisher is proving a real option up front and if we look for him more, Fev will kick a bag as well through not being double teamed so much.
Setanta is kicking goals every week now and from contested marks too!
Gibbs in the middle where he can get his hands on the footy and be attacking.
Fev's overall game.
Greg Swan before the game saying we will probably blood another 3-4 first gamers before the season is out.

Cons:
Injuries
Backline setup. Worked better in the last with Saddington on Nicky boy and Waite loose.
Gibbs hasn't kicked a goal yet from a set shot.
No rucks. Setanta is being misused there and should be FB.
If we play like that for the next 5 weeks we are in danger of losing the PP. Whilst I agree a win is good for morale, I also think we could do with the extra first round pick. (see 'no rucks' above)
Timing. Had we had a new coach earlier, maybe we would have won a few more games and the PP wouldn't be a consideration.
