Strolling through the heart of Carlton this week, and Lygon Street was abuzz with the talk of 'footballers not knowing how to control the ball, being too slow in defence and the coach not selecting the right players'...I heard the same story wherever I went, although one bloke clearly wasn't a fair dinkum Carlton supporter as he threw his arms up in the air and asked me why Josh Kennedy didn't play...'don't think he'll play for us again mate' I assured him, yet received a funny look in return. Trying to rectify the conversation, I said '...but how about Scotland?' Another weird look my way. Poor bastard. Clearly not the full quid.

Still, the proprietors were upbeat and many of the Italian restaurant owners had adorned their walls in shades of blue, one going as far as writing 'Forza Azzurri' on the wall which must make the players feel great when they pop down for a meal - ok, the shades of blue could have been a touch darker, but the 'Blue Force' message could not have been misinterpreted...amongst the frustration of a two steps forward, one step back season, there is some real mid-season love for Carlton in Carlton.

Are you talking about the Carlton Shop in Faraday St? Because from memory they closed it down and it wasn't re-opening.

Still shut

The building is owned by a former director (of Italian heritage - name escapes me).
Apparently the shop was provided rent free and still struggled to make a quid
I did a bit of shopping there. I found it quite handy

I used to take an extended lunch from work (CBD), go past the deli for an espresso and panino and then go buy some lovely Carlton merchandise
Made the whole shopping experience so pleasant...

Argh the Exhibition Buildings are SO cold! I remember sitting exams there and having to wear my jacket, hat, gloves and scarf just so I could stay warm enough to write.
