Teen Spirit, if you go back to one of my first 20 posts you will see I was spruiking the same message as you' kids with skinny bodies do not have the armour to play in the ones.
But I was saying that when Russell, Bentick, Blackwell, Simpson, Carrazzo were skinny kids and Murphy and Gibbs hadn't joined the Blues.
All of those 'kids' have grown and their bodies have been conditioned to withstand the modern game's physical demands, including our babies Gibbs and Murphy. Furthermore, with the exception of Murphy and Gibbs, they aren't kids anymore.
Ackland, o'hAlpin, Bannister have got conditioned bodies for the modern game, as does Wiggins, so I think you're deceiving yourself that the 'harder' bodies required are solely the domain of, namely Banno, Wiggo, Lance and Kouta.
Put it this way, Lance, Saddo, Ackland and Kouta didn't lead, protect or set an example for our kids on Friday, so their ommission would not be damaging to our team, in fact, I'm now totally convinced that if Kennedy played for Lance, and Hartlett played for Saddington, Aisake for Ackland, and only one of our slower players such as Bentick, Blackwell and Kouta was playing for 2 faster players, lets say Grigg and Anderson....we would be much better off.
Yes, all that is easy to say in hindsight, but I'm actually looking forward, and making greater demands of players wearing the Dark Navy Blue, especially so when I know we've got players like Bower, Flint, Hartlett, Kennedy, Benjamin, Anderson, Aisake, Edwards and Jackson chomping for a position or they're knocking on the door. In fact I'll go one step further and say they deserve a spot in the ones more than Lance, Saddo and Ackland for a start, and Pagan can join them too as far as I'm concerned.
