Is this guy for real or what?

What happened to "15 fences to go in the Grand National" , or "Our tiny little steps are getting bigger". Hes basically trying cover his ass for the wallopping we're going to get. Way to build the kids confidence.

Pratt where are you?? I think every Carlton member would get behind his sacking and rejoice. Just do it!!

Wow, not only are you a sports psychologist, but you're a PR whiz and pollster extraordinaire

Who can say what effect comments to the media have on players? I'd hope theyd take more notice of what the coach says to them at team meetings.

But I'd hope that Pagan is saying something along these lines in private. The problem with a series of competitive losses is that the team can become fragile. Then they lose the ability to fight back when another team gets hold of them early. The boys have to be prepared to fight it out if this happens. You can't just give them a pep talk because when things don't pan out well, they've got nothing to fall back on.

But anyway, I know your efforts as a Pollster are wrong. I'm a member and I don't think the way you do.

Once you say you hate someone it really doesn't matter about the rest -you hate them ergo they will always be wrong.

I would hope that they wouldnt even think this, let alone announce it to the world like they have done.

For sure last year when we were reliant on different players you could see it. We didnt like it but you could see it.

But this year I thought we were playing with more balls and gusto. For sure we were thrashed by 2 of the 3 Clubs looking superior to the competition, and could have lost more to Collingwood, but I dont want them thinking we cant match it with anyone else.

Bulldogs havent even hit form yet outside of a great quarter or 2 and we're fearing getting thrashed by them?

I think some people are jumping to conclusions pretty quickly here.

Nowhere in the article does it say "I expect to be thrashed this weekend against the Bulldogs", which going by some of the responses in this topic you would think is the case.

Pagan is highlighting the fact that the team has come up short the last few games even after putting alot of effort into the game. I would think that an article like this should be seen in a positive way by the playing group and they use it as an incentive to avoid a "potential blowout" be it against the bulldogs or any other team as much as possible.

The article may be a 'Marcus Rose' special, where 1 headline takes away from anything positive, but haven't we moved past the stage where a thrashing is viewed as acceptable?

We've had 2 thrashings to top teams, and in the cold light of day after being pantsed you just have to accept it.

But looking forward there shouldn't be a dyke, a leak in the dyke or any need to stem it with piecemeal measures. I know Pagans proverbs are throwaways but I dont think thre should be anything negative like that inference flowing out of the Club.

Denis Pagan said yesterday he was wary that more hard-fought losses could demoralise the side completely. "That's always on the cards, I've got no doubt about that," Pagan said

Um where again is the reference to 'we will get thrashed here?' Pagan is stating reallity in that if you continue to lose hard fought games then it will effect your confidence. Thats somewhat different to "We are going to get thrashed" dont you think?

I think my hatred of Pagan is clouding my judgement.

For me...Pagan symbolizes "pain & failure". 5 years of shit...I remember going to PP on a sat afternoon full of prideand anticipation...when I watch now, I feel fear and frustration.

It is a case of Pavlov's dog. the team plays with the pain of loss...5 years worth and I have become a die hard supporter that expects loss at the ring of a bell (instead of saliva and food..catch my drift).

I want that nightmare to stop. Pagan is the epitomy of Blue Pain and he will never bring us out of the wilderness. It is true that he inherited a terrible palying list, granted, however since 2004 and the rebuilding the team have never really played for the jumper like they should. Pagan has not instilled faith, pride or passion...and I dont believe he can.

As supporters we talk about tanking, draft picks and how the AFL crucified us, but when the shit hits the fan, the Carlton Football Club, represented by its team and its coach are the only ones that can remedy the situation.

Since Pratt, Icke and Swann have come to the club our board and financial situation have stabilized. The only department that seems to lack direction (much like the Smorgon days) is the football department.

No matter what any of you say, Pagan is the senior coach of the Carlton Football Club. He is responsible for the football department...end of story.

In the past 5 years he has produced very little to get excited about. I could list all of his bad decisions but I would just be repeating what has already been written throughout this website.

Mediocrity is very UNCARLTON. Unacceptable in every way. When a leader fails he should honourably fall on his sword and take responsibility. Pagan will not do that.

The board should do it for him and let us garner strength for the real revival.

Draft picks aside...we have an enormously talented playing group and if they played for the navy blue jumper...under good instruction...they would undoubtedly be more successful.

I have finished my rant.

Thank you

Appears Denis has hoisted the white flag and given up for this year.....no more rabbits in the hat. ...sooner he is replaced by someone more positive and better equipped the better. You always offer hope..I didnt see Laidley giving up or Daniher, or even Wallace.....
Adams Benticks comments were far more impressive.....even ill fated coaches like Tony Shaw offered something to the faithfull and retained some credibility.

Very damaging for young players to be subjected to this negative stuff and warnings of impending doom.......its time for Pratt to act and either get Pagan interested again or get rid of him.In many respects I have probably been overly harsh on some of our younger players and considering the rubbish Pagan has delivered on and off the field of late I apologise to those players who I have had a go at......
Listened to Brent Harvey last night on SEN and he said the Roos players believe they can win every match they play and Laidley has instilled that in them......maybe Denis should get on the phone to Laidley and get some tips on how to go about inspiring a young team....
