Of course the conspiracy theorists will ponder the timing of the debut - against the Crows - who are from his home state - and he's out of contract at the end of the year ...

Yeah nah, great news! Woof woof

Then put santana back there with jarred and scotland and we have a defence that is starting to have a bit of a hard look about it!!!

You would have to remove waite for that to happen. He is not an intimidating player and not is he courageous. Watch the half hearted efforts when he could intercept a ball by putting himself in front of a leading player. It is a frequent occurrence. He does not put his body on the line unfortunately, which is my biggest problem with him. He will never be a leader at Carlton and if other players his size (eg Hartlett) stand up, then im not sure he even has a long-term future. In his position on the field you cannot afford to have players that think twice about putting their body on the line.

He's getting his chance to prove that he has a place at the highest level. Sometimes kids step up when given the opportunity.

Prove me wrong Adam, have a great game!

Was thinking the same thing. However I think the Crows will be looking at another KP player from the West who may want to come home. 8)

Hope he does really well and gets plenty of game time

Good stuff, best of luck to Hartlett...

...oh well, Pagan continues to blood the youngsters - and continue to give them matches.

Guess that's one less think Pagan bashers can bitch about.

Thank you Denis Pagan and match committee.

A player with a bit of physical presence. Just what we need.

Noone knows what happened to JM. In any case, he wasnt being paid big bucks to be a footballer. But don't make it personal.

I used to love waite, thought he would be the next Kouta, he has most of the attributes but lacks the smarts, courage (admittedly kouta was not so courageous when younger) and foot skills (again Koutas improved dramatically, but he at least had sound technique). I'm not usually into dissing players but since i've been looking at our 190cm+ players i think that if a couple of the younger ones stand up then waite will be struggling to hold his position.

Btw, i know what i see. Waite is selective when he puts his body on the line. He goes hard when running forwards but is not comfortable going backwards. I am also aware that other supporters know what im talking about. He lacks real courage (ie not considering the consequences(fearless)) and that is a significant reason why his position is not secure. Its also the reason that Houla should be played forward. We need tough as nails defenders. think of sos, dean, sexton, mckay, rice and compare them to waite and houlihan. tough guys don't like being beaten. O'Hailpin, Scotland, T-Bird (tho i'd like him in the middle) are tough. Anderson looks the goods too. Hopefully Harts will show it as well and hopefully he'll show it at CHB coz a player of his size could be awesome. We have a few but we need a few more.

he is another kid that i worry about and ask myself, what will Denis do with him? where will he play him???

the way Denis has used hartlet in the off season games confuses me... what is he? is he a backman? is he a forward? is he just a player that doesnt know himself where he should play? or is it Denis that decides where players should play by experimenting like he is done with other young players, and so far gone no where??

from memory, hartlett was recruited to be a Full back, but seems to be playing forward these days!!!!!

All the best for harts, he should a decent run and out of the younger kpp brigade he is the most physically developed. He has to come good, he's gonna be vital component to us in 08 and onwards.

I hope he lives up to everyone's expectations. I haven't seen much of him, but I just hope that if he doesn't quite live up to the expectations in the first 15-20 games he plays that he doesn't cop the pasting that Kennedy has been given of late.

Good luck Harts....

this is long time comin'
he played really well in the pre season final picking up some 15 possies and kicking two goals from memory.
i am one of those that believes hartlett only comes good on the big stage.
