notting hill pub after a win at waverley was the best.

Would you believe that Kath Byer still owns and runs that pub to this very day.The Notting Hill hotel is a time warp.Has not been modernized and has basically the same staff. The connection to Carlton is simple........Kath's brother, the late Keith Shea, was a former Carlton great.Kath was,and is still to this day,a Carlton fanatic and major financial backer.Suggest Blues fans take a sentimental journey to "The Nott" and give your regards to the great lady that is Kath.

Remember when we had a club to be proud of and although we were hated, at least we were respected??? Now we are the new St Kilda of the new millenium!!! A joke!!!

My enduring memories of the Blues are of:

Ken Hunter reminding the goal umpires to signal a goal.

Of seeing Mark Naley charge his way through 3-4 players at a time with just pure pace.

(Minister) Harry Madden loping away from some quicker and more athletic pursuer, throwing his boot at the ball just in time.

Watching the Dominator wheel around for yet another wonderful snap.

Of seeing Rats somehow conjure the ball out of a pack of bodies into the hands of Braddles on the half forward flank where he would never miss.

Of seeing Sticks take a big pack mark in a tight game, and somehow wobbling it through for a goal to get us in front.

Watching Diesel get hammered by the opposition and abused by opposition supporters all day, only to kick the winning goal right at the death.

Of seeing guys like Lockett, Carey, Dunstall and Lloyd complaining to the umpires about SoS holding them.

Watching Fraser Brown mouthing obscenities under his breath as he gives away another free kick.

Watching Kouta fly over a pack to take a big grab, and then playing on through that same pack while holding the ball in one hand.

Seeing the rapture in the Heatley Stand in the final quarter.

Jumping up and hugging complete strangers just because they were Carlton supporters, after the 99 Prelim final.

So many wonderful memories...so long ago :(

I need someone to hold me

George

Just wondering how you felt when you first heard that Pagan was coming to Carlton?

Many were excited/hopeful. Was this just because of the hype, or because we'd just won a spoon and didn't think we had anything to lose by getting Pagan?

I was excited and hopeful.

Now I'm depressed and suicidal.

remember when a player getting 35 touches meant he dominated the game - and when those disposals were creative and positive? Now we can have players getting this many touches - but they don't mean anything

Then I thought, in 2008 it will mean that Carlton has only won one flag in the last 20 years.

When Kouta retires it will be the first time since 1969, at least, that we've not had a Carlton premiership player on our senior list.

Try '67
In '69 they were all premiership players except the newbys.

My best memories are standing behind the goals at the Heatley end week in week out with the same mates, same people I used to see there and to bask in the glorious days of the famous carlton 3rd quarter comeback. We used to take bets on how many we would kick in any particular 3rd qtr. The place used to rock something mad. The atmosohere was electric.

No matter how far down we were at half time we just knew it was going to happen.

Another memory was that of my namesake... :-D ...the dominator and how he used to lift for big games by far the best big occasion player I have ever seen bar none. Which brings to mind the way he manhandled the filth that was billy picken in that 79 Granny. Priceless it was.

I remember '67.. and this time in that year we were only 11 days away from the release (in the UK unfortunately, australia in july) of "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band". An album I got for my 21st birthday in october that year...... sorry folks, just got a bit nostalgic. Thought it was time for happy thoughts. For us oldies Blue Sombrero!!!
And yes, it was only a year and a bit away from the 1968 flag.

Such sad and melancholy posters.

The past has gone - blown away like tumbleweeds rolling across a lonely, dry claypan.

But a re emergence is coming, its not far away.

And after we come back - we stay as we were in the good old days for quite a few years.

Carlton does come back and get into a GF.

Quite a few of our next premiership players are already here.

The 17th Carlton Flag will be one of the most glorious in our history.

It will come like a thief does in the night - totally and completely unexpectedly...
