I hope this doesn' come out the wrong way, and just thinking out aloud but;

1. If there are 5 players available and
2. If there is enough interest - or people who want to double up and
3. Since this is being branded a TBV sponsorship then

maybe we could nab one of the other players in a TC sponsorship drive?

Thoughts?

Don't forget the rate given to TBV was a discounted rate because they are already a sponsor. If TC was to look at a new player from scratch I'd expect that we'd be looking at a bit more, but I could be wrong.

I'm happy for TalkingCarlton to look into this, although my personal feeling is that we'd be better placed to have a drive towards the end of the year so we can get in early for 2006, either as a combined front with TBV and CSC, or as a single entity using the TalkingCarlton name.

As stated, I believe, the goal should always be about giving as many people as possible a chance to get behind the club in a way that as individuals many of us would have no hope of doing. That way, we all get a warm fuzzy feeling and the club gets sponsors, a win, win situation.

fair enough, didn't read the discount bit.

Just thought with sponsorship going great guns, that we could do something ourselves.

I agree, but reckon 2006 might be the way to go.

The discount is available because some of the benefits are no longer available eg. guernsey presentation, the reserved seating is lesser quality etc.

actually think it would be super cool if each site, meaning, TBV, TC and CSC could all sponser one player each.

Then say half way through the year or something, we can have a big "Internet Communities" night where we can all get together, have a few drinks, meet the players we are all sponsoring, and make a great night out of it all.

Reckon that would be an awesome night :D

actually, was close to pulling out when i realised GoBaggers had something to do with it, as it is, im not that comfortable sending him money as it is, but i will on this occasion.

But like i said ealier i would far prefer us getting our own player this time, or if not now then next year.

Updated info folks...
http://www.theblueview.org/phpboard/vie ... 347#271347

Seems like our only option is Daniel Batson, as most of the other players have already found sponsors, which is great news for the club. Have a read of the above post on TBV and see what you think.

However, I think we won't require any further pledges for donations towards this. Thanks again to everyone who has pitched in.

For those who are not aware of the way the Club has historically handled sponsorships, when the time comes for renewal, existing player sponsors have first option on their sponsorship for the following season. This allows a player's sponsor to maintain the relationship through the entire career if in the position to do so.

I believe the Club policy has also been in general to offer player sponsorships to all existing player sponsors before considering additional requests. For example, when a player retires or is delisted that player's sponsor has been offered a chance at a new player.

Now while the system has been revised for this season with a larger number of player sponsorships available due to the multi tiered approach, it is probably reasonable to assume that a similar approach will be taken by the Club next year.

Just something for all to consider with regard to their thinking for next year.

And a great effort from all who contributed.

hate to be a pain in the ass here CB

but i have recently decided that i dont want to sponsor a player if we are associated with TBV

i must apologise for waiting so long to let you know, because, well basically i forgot all about it  but im not comfortable with GoBaggers nor any assoication with him.

Same goes next year - i wont be continuing my sponsorship of Karl if it is going to be a TBV based sponsorship.

Having said all that, i will be more than happy to get on-baord if we sponsor a kid through TC

this is what i posted on TBV as well

GoBaggers

there is nothing personal against you, we all have "brain farts" just some bigger than others

Anyways, i made the decision about a week ago - not to get involved with a TBV/TC alliance to sponsor another player, i just forget all about it and forget to let Liam know.

At the end of the day - i dont consider myself having anything to do with TBV and would prefer in the future that TC sponsors its own player. Im all for you guys sponsoring who ever, and for those that want to get into a co-sponsor with TBV/TC then the more the merrier.

Would actually love to see a TBV based sponsorship, TC based sponsorship and a CSC based sponsorship, then we could all get together once a year and have a big internet community party or something and get all teh players we sponsor to come along and make a great night of it.

But for myself, i want to just be involved with a TC based sponsorship, if that means waiting until next year, then so be it.
