we could always build a Matthew Hogg cyborg made out of indestructible titanium that has the ability to fly, and regenerate human genitalia out of his earlobes at will.

The idea of a cyborg Matthew Hogg streaming down the wing at the G, Ron Jeremy-esque penis flopping out of one ear, a massive vagina coming out of the other, it's quite poetic really. We could have won in 99 if Matthew Hogg had fallopian tubes back then.

I've looked on Google, no such plans exist.

Government conspiracy, they've shut down every website related to it in the known universe, and killed the creator and their families within hours. I'm kinda shitting myself at the moment to be honest.

It's the 'bottom's up' mentality that is difficult for a lot of supporters to deal with. Yes, when Murph or Gibbs comearound end of season it has been fantastic: but to think about bending over so early in the season, (and not only this one), it's not the Carlton ethic I have in my soul.

Do you want 1&2 if it happens, or do you want 1&2 and will get angry if we try to win games?

It's a terrible base.

best thing you've posted on here at TC, Winnie

These picks would no doubt help our cause for the next 10 years, but I cannot see us winning just 4 games this year - it would have to be 7 for mine.

I think if we get a top 3 pick we're doing well - Cazz, how's the depth in the draft this year?

You're right actually Jars.

The difference is I'm not about blaming Pagan.
I just discuss why I think he's failing our players. I never get personal about it.

Getting back to your point, the lack of development going in to our players now will have a negative effect on our list for years, not just one week.
So yes, I'll be extremely disappointed for quite a while. But mostly for the players when they realise they've missed the opportunity to realise their potential.

Pretty funny hey?

Nah.

yep, but it doesn't happen very often.

How did Jezza begin?

Jezza was in a unique position in that the list they had at the time was a Premiership List and the coach he replaced was a looney tune and a CrossDresser.

Denis Pagan shares a few similiarities and having a Premiership List at his disposal is not one of them. :P

..lookit, pags has said that if he gets draft picks we'll get wins..and he's right.. ..but it's not an instant conversion.. ..yer not drafting 24 yr old 100 gamers.. ..yer drafting kids with zero senior afl game experience, and even the ones that can drop right in take time..and when half yer team is a few yrs old/experienced and younger..yer have to wait..as simple as that..

Draft picks although nice are not what we need right now. We have enough talanted players and the natural turnover of players will keep improving the list. What we don't have and need more than anything else is a winning culture and confidence that we can win against any team in the comp. That is why Brisbane and Port are rebuilding quicker than us with no #1 draft picks. Our young kids need to learn what is required to win, learn that intensity, hardness at the ball, running hard to make space, finding a target is how you win. I am not angry with how we played on Sat, the Cats were awsome and would have beat any team that was out there (admittingly by a lesser margin). What the kids have to learn by that is what the good teams do - keep posession when the other team has a run on, chip it around and find a lose man rather than bomb it into the forward line. If Fev has three on him that means someone else is free - find them, these are the lesson that the guy will lean that the good team do.
There is no point getting more top 3 draft picks if we don't educate the players we already have on how to win and the only way to teach them on how to win is to win.

Putting in a Ratten mid year will most likely result in a few 'honeymoon' wins, the loss of the priority pick and also a muddying of the waters about who should coach on 2008.

Worked for Sydney & Paul Roos, sure it was the end of the year but it is similar.

Well I never thought anyone would bring that up twice.

Sure it might have worked once or twice out of the millions of times it has been tried. The exceptions do not prove the rule.

AAARRRRGGGGHHHHH

i cant believe you bastards are considering tanking already. never mind the effect this has on the mindset of the younger players, never mind the further bashing we receive in the media, never mind the lost revenue through memberships as we keep losing, never mind the name being dragged through the mud, never mind players wanting to leave for greener pastures.

We need to build a culture at this club, and the only way to do that is to slug it out and try and win as many games as we can. Sure, if we tank we get great players more than really good players, but what sort of culture are we building at the club?

Barely similar, given that Sydney had a list very close to the one which one the 05 flag when Roos took over.
