Point of the year!

Agree on Bentick - really got us back in to contest with his clearance work. And as mentioned loved Eddie's game - I think this is the season he becomes so much more than just a freakish small forward.

My positives are:

- O'Hailpin, Waite, Walker and Thornton are forming a strong defensive unit.
- Fisher's kicking for goal improving.
- Betts getting more of the footy.
- Gibbs gradually getting accustomed to senior level. Pure silk.
- Hartlett looked good on debut.
- Cloke appears a bargain pickup.

Agree with Bentick. Gee, he gets those balls clear out of traffic doesn't he? Setantas big fists from behind, Waitey's dash from the backline, players peeling off in numbers to make space...

On and on it goes :-D :-D :-D

He did pretty well when playing as a CHF to 8)

The big positive was that we had so many scoring opportunities (didn't convert all of them, but this is the positive thread 8) )

Also we get to play another 'serious' game as a team on the best surface against a team that wants to win not just tinkering with their lineup as all other supporters claim at this time of year when there team gets beaten by 10 goals playing at Nar Nar Goon recreation reserve. Much better for a young team to play in a settled team so they can 'gell' in a highly competitve environment.

Go blues.

Fev.....won the game of his won boot after being benched....his kicking is a delight and you can see the team lift when he fires up.

Marc Murphy is already the midfield general and a class above most.....

Cameron Cloke....must have a twin..this cant be the same gumpy stiff who waddled around in a Collingwood jumper and did nothing.
Ruckwork was excellent, palmed the ball, took marks, got involved in general play and is the No1 ruckman at the minute.....

Adam Bentick...good players lift after a poor game and AB showed he is a good player by getting better as the game went on...

Eddie Betts....loved his attack on the footy and like Fev doesnt miss many when he gets a chance to kick a goal.......

Adam Hartlett....showed he has talent with a nice game and provided us with another target in JK's absence...

I meant to say......ditto.....AB has the Ratts look about him doesn't he?

Cloke is a surprise packet.....if he can improve; he could be anything.

No doubting Adam Bentick's talent but his leg speed does worry me a bit. In the clinches AB is fantastic. Aprt from Fev I think a new match winner is emerging little MArc Murphy this kid is a FREAK!

The commentators, especially Wallsy, were talking up Carrots in a big way, saying that he played in the same u18 carnival as Judd, and consistently got more of the pill than Judd during it, and that he's a "ball magnet".

Now if only he could kick a little better....

Carrots has improved out of sight since Geelong delisted him from their rookie list in 2003.

AB looked great last night.

And if the long range forecasts are to be believed, El Nino has broken down and should lead to a reasonably wet late Autumn/Winter/Early Spring period.

Expect AB's stocks to rise as the drought breaks.

Overall, really pleased with the way we seemed able to get numbers to contests, as well as having players intelligently get into space to link up. It seems like we're already able to play a smarter brand of football than we have of late.

The influence of Ratten and Bradley perhaps :?:

defence= Balanced
...Santa + Waite= Balance....through in Lappin...Hoops....T-bird and Bower/Hartlett and you have a new monster backiline.

Midfield= Firepower...AB feeding...Stevens & Gibbs delivering and Murphy being an out and out champion....will scare the rest of the AFL.

Forward= Options...we havent had multiple options for years...Fev...Betts...Fish...JK....Whitnall....DROOOOLLLLL!!!!!!!!

We are on the way back.

Go Blues!!!!!!!!!

We've got to praise the work ethic that Gavin Crosisca's instilled into our defence.....we're now punching instead of trying to mark a la Ang and McKay did.........and we're backing each other up.

Once again, Deano, your eloquence is astounding!

As a newbie to this game, it is great to have so much positivity about the club / team .. I am so looking forward to wearing my guernsey more often on a Monday morning (but I still have the black outfit ready, just in case .. I don't have an armband so I'll go all black

Disappointing that threre were only 7200-odd there on a fine Saturday night ('Roos claimed 13,000 versus Collingwood)...but;

1. We outnumbered North's supporters 2 to 1. There were lots of kids in Navy Blue, and, for the first time in years, there was widespread optimism and genuine wholehearted support for our boys. We were willing those kids on - and they delivered.

2. The cohesiveness of the defence was outstanding. No indecision, no confusion. Setanta was terrific. He beat Thompson hands down and just keeps improving with every run. True, he gave away a few frees, but he's a quick learner. And he's already a leader down back. At times he reminds me of Peter Dean with his passion and his commitment. 1AW, Hoops and Scotland were terrific too.

3. I agree with everyone else regarding our future captain. Marc Murphy is all class. For the next ten years, it will be worth the admission price just to watch him play.

4. I watched Hartlett closely and wasn't disappointed. He's got it all physically, and knows where to run to advantage. Very impressive.

5. Eddie Betts, I love you. Mr Perpetual Motion. Never stops running, never stops presenting, and works as hard without the ball as when he has it. Enthusiastic, brave and skilful. He was inspirational on Saturday night.

6.Brendan, Brendan, Brendan. Please big fella - forget about staging for free kicks and trying to provoke the opposition. Yes, you are a star full-forward. Lead up, mark the ball, kick the goal. Do this and we will love you. Act like a prat, and we might not. It's your call. On Saturday night, you were sensational.

7. We may not have the tallest or most skilful ruck division, but against the 'Roos, Cameron Cloke and Cain Ackland worked their butts off. In 2007, they at least will be competitive, honest and committed. And that's a really good start.

Get on the Blues on Saturday night, people - wherever the game is played. The Lions will be praying for a wet track in Brisbane.
If it's at the Dome or anywhere else in the dry, the Blues will have too much firepower.
