This is good news! I'm glad that some of the coaches have admitted that they don't have as much developmental control of our youngsters as they should have.
All the players who miss out on a senior berth should at least be developing together at the next level.

Anyone who wants a Carlton reserves team is living well and truly in the past.
Whats wrong with the Bullies?
Why wouldnt we have a thriving satellite club in the heart of one of the most football fertile areas in Melbourne?
Why wouldnt we use the Bullies to farm and harvest future Carlton supporters in the Northern suburbs?
Why wouldnt we concentrate on all the intelligence that the Bullants and the Knights have to examine and understand every kid in the district better than any other club in the AFL?

Reserves Carlton?
Curtain raisers???

Dreamin!!!.. yesteyear people..

By the way has anyone heard for Carlton God since Smorgon got the big heave ho???

So we can have COMPLETE control over the development of our young players.

IMO having a reserves team would benefit our club a lot, mainly in youth development. But the club made the decision to go the other way when they combined with the bullants.

A national reserves comp would not work. Officials over here in SA are already saying that if this idea ever gets anywhere it will destroy the SANFL. Purely through a loss of talent on display. Losing afl listed players and then fill in players for the afl reserves.

Right this minute, the whole thing is just a dream, so we live the dream as a dream, and look at the possibilities, positives and negatives; that's all!

Synbad, who did you barrack for in the VFA?

Lots, I'll refer to my post in a thread I started last year...gotta find it...but there's too many negatives.

Thriving satellite...Bullants....???    You must be thinking of the growth corridor up past Reservoir.

You're dreaming if you think they're the answer to grow our reach..... they're a rabble.....lucky to still exist....and they've got Collingwood roots.

Why can't we do the same as CARLTON, CARLTON andf only CARLTON?.

I don't give a shit about the ANTS Brand...I don't like following them, let alone the fact I couldn't get to 3 games a weekend to see all of Carlton's non injured players play. There's only one brand for me in AFL football and that's CARLTON......and that's where the problem starts.

Lets look at the synergy in the spelling:

C A R L T O N

B U L L A N T S

No resemblance and no synergy whatsoever. We aren't an insect, we're the Mighty BLUES

Now that's a much better dream than the Ants nightmare...which may I remind you happened as a stop gap, and will not be forever anyway...nearly never was after our first year of association...it's a big nothing...a moment in time...you're dreaming if you think it is forever....Carton do not own Preston's Bullants, and they are not Carlton. That's an obvious not a dream...it's a nightmare for me!

Hoping that we view the Bullants as Carlton is easy if you've been a former Preston and current Carlton supporter...what percentage of CARLTON's supporter base are traditional Bullants supporters?

ZIP!...a big nothing on the radar.

Anything can happen in the future, even the closure and cessation of Preston FC, The Bullants or whatever they are...there must be a plan B in such a precarious time when the ideas are being floated by the AFL. If we don't look at other possibilities other than our present 'temprary' situation we will fall behind the rest as we did when when the rest were working with the system called the draft, and we were still living in the past!

Stuck in the now is not a progressive position or one we should be content with in times of uncertainty and change...those types who do are what I would call "yesteryear's thinkers and yesteryear's people, because what is today will be yesterday tommorrow.

I barracked and played a few games in the younger age groups for Prahran ...... even if Prahran was in the VFL now id be barracking for the Bullies.

I love your loyalty Synners.

What agreat club Praran were...I really had a few favourite players at that club, but none bigger than the Dominator.

I was a mad Sandringham supporter (trained with them and the Dawks when I was younger), but once the affiliation was made with Melbourne, my passion just disolved...I new it was the end.

So, a bit like you (only a wincy little bit), my team in the VFL (that I follow, but not passionate about) is The Ants because the Carlton boys are there and I want them to get as much finals action for their development as possible, hence my support for them to win...but it does bother me a lot....it doesn't feel right.

I hate the Ants jumper as a kid and I can't change that now.
