I think it's a perfect example of the Peter Principle, and the starkest one since Timmy Watson.
For some reason people think that awesome footballers will necessarily be awesome committeemen (or awesome coaches, or even awesome captains).
But nothing could be further from the truth, and the few exceptions, like Leigh Matthews, only cloud the issue.
Watson was a footballer who was a joy to watch, but fairdinkum, what about his coaching and media work???
I personally think that Sticks is the same. He was a great footballer and a sensational captain. But as an administrator and statesman, I don't think he cuts the mustard. I wouldn't even mind him as a down the line, minor, token ex-footballer on the committee. But as a vice president and the face of the club.........
