What's Dr Jim's opinion - can a FF play with a broken finger? What's your experience in these matters?

Depends on what hand the finger is broken. Fev tends to go up one handed for alot of grabs these days while holding his opponenet back with strength.

I personally think it stupid to play with a broken finger. Nothing gained out of it, we have an opportunity to use an alternate game plan for a change and make life hard for whoever is coaching Essendon*. Try different players in Fev's position and see how we go. At worst we get te number one draft picks in ND, PSD and RD.

Watch it all turn pair shaped if he does line up, and does have a broken finger. He will break it good and proper and miss the rest of the season anyway, then have finger complaints over the pre-season blah blah blah.

I agree mjonc, but it seems the club will be desperate to win this match at all costs.
I think it's a great opportunity against a ordinary opposition to try a different approach to scoring.
Absolutely nothing to lose.

Seeing as Smorgon has stated that the only way we're going to get the club out of our financial hole is to start winning games of footy, it sends a fair message to the football department...

don't think there'll be any collingwood-style 'planning for next season' stuff going on anytime soon.

I'd like to see him play and tear them a new one, but the way we're going this is just about guaranteed to happen

Gee, you'd reckon whoever his opponent is will be looking to test it out!! Bit of a whack behind play, punch his hand as part of a spoil, that type of thing.

I've played cr@p suburban footy with a broken finger taped to the one next to it and my cheap club didnt have injections. I found it hard to mark the ball and I wasnt a FF!!

Good on Fev if its true and he has a go but it might end up being counter productive

I remember Sticks playing with a broken hand and still played well. Fev will be able to play with a broken finger.

miss the rest of the season for a broken finger

flower hell, a slow news week or something in AFL circles.

i havent watched that show for sometime, and if that is all they have to say i cant say im missing much.

abit of tape strap to you fingers and you are fine - unless it is something more serious than that.

but you do not miss a footy game for a broken finger. pop it back in, tape it up and away you go.

Thought it was just bruised until after training apparently....not uncommon...Earl Spalding played about 7 games with a broken thumb in '95...Fev will line up I'm quite sure...and will be able to give a fairly good 'Nanu.Nanu' on the day in keeping with the 80's Heritage Round (if in fact Mork and Mindy did cross over into the 80's - although I'm pretty sure it did)...

As long as Fev plays this week to make sure we don't win another wooden spoon he can have the next 3 months off for all I care. I have too many bets with wanka Essendon* supporters to not win tomorrow!!

I hear Sticks is heading to Siberia if we lose........I wonder if he has any spare tickets.

Hey Ryan2000 or anyone else out there - did you manage to get down to MC Hammer Park and see if Fev has a broken finger?

Tell Sticks I would have headed to Siberia for the entire 2006 season if we got Dale Thomas instead of Marc Murphy

Nice call woof!! :-D

Be even better if Murph wins the rising star even though he only played 12 games.

If we do lose and others want to join "Sticks on Tour" can get further information on Siberia at http://www.trans-siberia.com/ :)

Siberia is another name for Adelaide...

It might as well be siberia if youve ever been there...

Well at least if he has it taped up the AFL can't fine him for giving the one finger salute to the Essendon* cheersquad when he kicks his 6th for the afternoon. :P

Missed training. Kouta says he'll play.

http://afl.com.au/default.asp?pg=news&s ... eid=282674

Quote:
Speaking before training on Friday morning, skipper Anthony Koutoufides confirmed the important forward would take his place in the forward 50 and said he didn't expect the injury to have too much of an impact on big Fev's game.

"He dislocated his finger towards the end of the training session on Wednesday night, but he'll be right for tomorrow - they're just going to tape it up," Koutoufides said from MC Labour Park.

"You get dislocated fingers during a game and you play on - yeah, of course, it's going to be sore, but I'm pretty sure the majority of footballers play with some sort of injury and some sort of pain.

Fevola, 25, who currently leads the race for the Coleman Medal with 55 goals - seven clear of the second-placed Barry Hall - missed training on Friday to attend the birth of his child.
