That's when I was 'born again' into aussie rules footy

Was footy even played in 67?

ah, feb. 25th 1988, so that would be....a 15 point win to the blues against the hawks in the grand final replay on 2/4/88.

the blueboys, without johnno, meldrum and rhys-jones, had the match sealed by new-recruit david kernahan.

Older brother Steve was first on hand to congratulate him :-D

1976 was an amazing year for Carlton, a year of peaks and troughs, and a year of 'oh so close'. It started with a 57 point thumping of Hawthorn in round 1 to see the Blues sit on top of the ladder. In fact, Carlton would commence the season with seven consecutive wins by an average winning margin of 39 points. This great start put the club on top of the ladder until round 9.

Do I get anything for my first 7 games being wins by an average winning margin of 39 points?

btw....I think the above description is inaccurate as we beat Collingwood by 57 points in Round 1

When was your first Carlton win? The first win that Carlton had after you were born. I guess for those of you born out of the footy season you might have had to wait a few months. Me, I had to wait just 2 days for a 52 point victory over the Cats.

Can't say I remember much about it though. :P

How long did you have to wait?

A free GOLD STAR to the first person who was born on the same day as a Carlton win! 8)
Ok, found it. Where's my GOLD STAR!!! They won ON my birthday, round 11, June 29, 1957. As I was born at 11.22am this counts as my first Carlton win!!! We beat St.Kilda 13.14.92 to 7.13.55 in front of 21,454 at Princes Park!! We were 3rd at that stage while St. Kilda were crap, 2nd bottom.

I saw my first match on the 18th July 1964 against Melbourne, my first look at Princes Park in front of 17,831. We lost! We did well, led most of the day but like the current day Blues, fell on our @rses in the last qtr and lost by 12 points, 9.14.68 to 12.8.80. Remember standing on the wing where the Elliot Stand, or whatever they call it now, is. Melbourne won the flag that year while we finished 3rd last, also a bit like the current day Blues. We did win the flag 4 years later though after a PF the year before so we come good quick after getting Barassi across from Melbourne.

That's awesome jim … but you were pipped at the post by fullmont101. Sorry. :-D

My first was a 5 point win over the Swans at the SCG - almost 2 weeks after I was born. The first match after I was born was a 109 point loss to Essendon* - knowing this now, I'll want revenge this Saturday.

I would like to lodge a protest, on the first page, on the day of my birth. Fullmonts Gold star belongs to me.

I'm unlucky to be born on the offseason. So my first Carlton win was Round 2 1987 against the Pies. I think that's the same as PJ and Pauly.

Two days after I was born in '72 we drew with Richmond in the Semi, then the following week we got flogged in the replay, so my first win was the Prelim Vs St Kilda, 109 to 93. Jezza kicked 7.

Wow. Day after I was born we played the Dogs at Princes Park... and flogged them! We kicked 160 points... those were (clearly) the days.

Anyone go to that game?

ROUND 16 1980:

Carlton - 24.16 160
Footscray - 15.13 103

Venue: Princes Park
Date: July 19, 1980
Result: Win by 57 points
Umpires:
Crowd: 18792
Goalkickers:
Reports:
Injuries:

(Info blatantly stolen from the marvellous Blueseum)

I was born 3 days before we beat Melb by 41 points at PP (rd 15 1973)

AGRO I've always liked your story about that Geelong game (my favorite H&A game)

Damn you Collingwood!

An 85 point loss on my birthday.

Meaning my first win was the next week against North by 91.

My son was born on GF day 1995 - does that count? :-D

This is the Carlton birthday that sticks out for me:

Carlton 5.6 36 9.7 61 10.9 69 15.14 104
North Melbourne 4.0 24 7.2 44 11.10 76 16.12 108
Venue: Princes Park Date: May 19, 1979
Result: Lost by 4 points Umpires: Crowd: 39,411

played little league on my 11th birthday. We won, the real Blues lost but oh what a game! Top of the table clash, and the place was jam packed and absolutely jumping!

I know we won in R19 1968, but did we win in R18 that year?
