Blackwell? - someone posted that he was directing traffic on field last week?

I noticed this last weekend. I think he was trying to tell deluca to lead into the space he was creating but deluca didn't do it until it was to late. I think I saw him do it several other times with more senior players as well but the deluca one was right below me.

I think it is a good sign if he has the confidence to direct his elder teammates and not feel that because he is the new guy he shouldn't be telling others what to do.

BB95 - I was hoping that T-Bird could target McGrath or Sporn for me!

I agree, but it appears Pagan doesn't have much confidence in Walker or he'd release him to a wing and put a Bannister or Russell on the HBF.

Oh come on. He gave him the job on the (or at least one of the) most dangerous Bulldogs players on the weekend. And left him on him for the entire game. That isn't a sign of no confidence whichever way you want to look at it.

He puts Walker down back because we don't have anyone else who can do the job. Pagan doesn't have confidence in his kicking and playing him closer to goal where a turnover and mistake costs you a goal is a strange decision. :?

How many other developing players have you seen put under such pressure so early in their careers?

Russell is a better kick ATM and he should be played in defence along with Bannister who is a better option than Teague.

Your logic is backwards here. You can't know whether or not Pagan has confidence in Walker, no one but Pagan knows that. Your own logic leads you to a point where you decide that Pagan is making a strange decision. Turn it around, look at the situation without the presumption of Pagan having no confidence in Walker and that's a hard conclusion to draw. As you say, he plays him in a difficult position, where he is often under pressure and mistakes can costs goals. That's not somewhere you play someone you don't have confidence in.

As for the rest of it, I agree. Walker is very hard on himself and I'd like to see him given a chance to attack and create. Maybe enjoy his footy a little more.

The highlight of my year next year will be if Jarrad Waite steps up to the plate as a mature leader. If he really wants it ...it's his.

Possibly because he has been playing for what seems like forever in a seriously bad team, but T-Bird gets my vote for leadership material.

I'd have issues with the way that he tends to pay out fellow players - a bit more control of his emotions would raise his leadership prospects I'd think

4thChicken playing in the worst defense in AFL HISTORY for the better part of 4 years, it's a wonder T-Bird hasn't murdered anyone.

aggression in a player isnt the issue - its how that aggression is channeled. Thornton has a tendency to pay out teammates when he gets beaten by his man...
