He's on $500,000 at the moment and has another year on his contract so he won't be traded. Silky-skilled and never missed target at Port, so there's no probelms with his skills, but like most of our team, can't hit the side of a barn door from point blank range at Carlton. You have to ask why? We're a better side than what we're showing. Alot more to do with real want and focus rather than skills I think. There's only one perosn I want out of this club and he doesn't actually play. That'll help things no end.

Really? Who's that? Its possible you've never mentioned it before.

I thought this thread was about Stevo.

I cannot believe so many of you want to trade him at the end of next season. On current form, only Fev and maybe lance would be ahead of Stevo in terms of value to the club.

We don't have enough talent to afford to get rid of Stevo.

Stevo is very harshly judged. He is our best midfielder and gets very little support - in terms of having mature bodies around him and being able to have some spells on the bench during a game.

Still in our top 5 and we can't afford to weaken the list. He won't get more than $500k and with Kouta's salary drastically reduced there's already scope to try and entice some players over, particularly to help the midfield.

Saying that he had a sh!te match yesterday and that rubbish in the last quarter when he could have kicked the goal from 10 metres out was laughable.

On current form?

You're kidding right?

At his absolute best, you may have a case. He hasn't played to that level since he's been with us, through a combination of being part of a poor team, not working particularly hard, getting the best tagger every weekâ„¢, and perhaps carrying an injury.

More than anything else though, he's simply not as good a player as many give him credit for.

If he's such a great player 'on current form' why was he playing full back on Daniel Giansiracusa? Now Pagan has his faults, we know all of that, but if he's the influential top line midfielder some think he is, wouldn't we perhaps pop him closer to the centre square?

His disposal - the thing most people tout as his biggest asset - is terrible "on current form". He drops simple marks, which if you're playing across half back or deeper as he has consistently done this year, is going to cost you.

So, to answer the poll question, given many still see him as an elite footballer, let's not put the cart before the horse. If we cannot sign him on a significantly reduced contract - commensurate with his output - then we trade him if the right deal comes along. If we offer him a contract he doesn't like, it's Campo time all over again. Bye bye.

I would be happy to trade him to anyone willing to pay. In my opinion he is the new Campo, does not put his body in when needed .... gosh, Houla is showing more guts then him  :!: He is lucky he wasn't wearing white shorts.

It's just terrible how most Carlton supporters are turning into HYPOCRITES......It is such a shame......Real supporters stay true during good times and bad times.....They do not come out week in week out and bag stars of the game. I recall all last year they were calling for FEV to be traded, to get rid of him.....Terrible attitude and poor body language....I would hate to think where would we be this year without Fev.....I would say the same applies with Stevens....We are rebuilding and Stevens is needed whether you like it or not......He will not be going anywhere....

REAL supporters look for ways to move from bad times to good times and don't stick their head in the sand and blindly follow a club making poor decisions. Synbad taught me that.

Not once did I call for Fev to be traded. Lance? Yep. But he took a pay cut, got himself fit and benefitted from the pressure of being trade bait.

I would love Stevens to recapture this mythological SUPERSTAR status some would like to give him. I just don't have any faith that he can.

At the time of Stevens defection, Choco Williams suggested that Stevens would not have an easy ride at Carlton, no easy kicks, etc. He would not get the "cover" he got at Port.

Somehow I think he was right. Like many on our list if a good deal is on offer we need to consider. Stevo is worth a 1st round pick.

OK, here's a hypothetical for anyone that wants to take it...

Would you be happy if Carlton gave up a first round pick for Nick Stevens?

I don't think any supporters in the league would be happy if their side handed over a first round pick in the 2006 National Draft for Nick Stevens. Even in our wildest dreams we would get a 2nd round pick and a player at best I reckon.

Another stupid move by the penguin himself.....He had Stevens tagging Giansiracusa....Steven is not a tagger.....play him in his right position and let him run.....then we will see his worth....Sick and tired of fickle Carlton supporters. I just wonder how many still attend games?

Are we better off having someone who attends everygame but doesn't buy a membership, or someone who doesn't attend any games and buys a membership??

Just wondering.

Discussing it on SEN right now. Here's your chance to have your say. Ken Sheldon just said we should trade him.

Stevens is quality.
Carlton is shit and he has no support around him. The coach is a dinosaur too. The Carlton Football Club have dimished the value of Nick Stevens.
