With interest on the $8,000 owed and considering inflation perhaps we could just call it even for Lenny Hayes?

I'd ask for Matty Maguire - there is no room in a burgeoning midfield for Hayes! :-D

8000 in those days equates to a street in Yarraville....

We want a whole street in Yarraville...

Which street Synbad? Powell St? Fehon St? They're pretty good ones. Anderson St is longer but the property prices are a little lower...

think you would find it is a lot more than that.

In 84 an inner city house probably costed 10-15k. The equivalent property now is 500+k. Think of historical prices for cars, tram tickets etc...

Regardless though, I dont think the saints should feel obliged to repay that money.

In order to turn $8000 into $50,000 over that time frame you need to average around an 8.5% rate of return (compounded quarterly).

That's roughly double the rate of cpi over that period (1984-2006).

So when recovering that debt you could argue roughly the $50,000 given the gains in property and the stockmarket in that time.

You could also argue that you would have put that $8000 into Microsoft in 1984. 8)

But we all know Carlton would have spent the money on an office renovation for JE, or passed it under the table to some hack.

Either way it would have been pissed up against a wall.

Be that as it may we are paying all bills as they fall due.

I hoping that's true

Well that's up to you but for me the best 'FU' to all the kickers is CFC being successfull again on & off the field as soon as possible.

Yeah but me and Deano Supremo are 'haters' with long memories - we will not only derive a great deal of enjoyment from Carlton's next premiership, we are also going to derive a great deal of enjoyment from painting the letter boxes and front fences "Navy Blue" of the following bunch of arseholes:

- The Spew
- Ron Evans
- Wayne Jackson
- Graeme Samuel
- Bill Kelty
- Patrick Smith
- Keith McGowan
- Mike Sheahan
- Caroline Wilson
- Dwayne Russell
- "Insert any Carlton hating arseholes name here"

Never forgot his vitriolic and sneering vindictive rant he gave Carlton on Black Friday 2002, and he never missed the opportunity to make a snide remark about Carlton.

He died last night.

My obituary is "meh".

My list is getting smaller.

All class after they turned off MacGowan's life support last night.

You're more illogical and vindictive towards Carlton than the people on your list.

Meh.
