Sam Flanders is a Decent Player... When he was injury free, he was one of Gold Coast best players- He can play multiple roles and provides good Run. Worth Getting!

As for Charlie, I didn't realize he is 29... I thought he was around 25-26. If this is the case, its the perfect time to let him go & get something decent for him. His best is past him, his Knee is never going to hold up as he gets older.

There are many examples of key forwards playing their best footy in their early 30's.

We talk about diversity, stronger together etc.

But we dont support the troubled ones. We just give up on them.

Its a wonder why some other clubs take a punt of troubled guys, but make them into good players.

Its a big issue we have had for a while. Dont know of course what is going behind the scenes, but club tells us nothing. So we speculate like we do.

We can't offer the same "Farm therapy" that Geelong can

Glad to see the hysteria has arrived early this year.

I suppose it depends on whether he’s a Travis Tuck or a Joel Smith.

I suspect he's a Travis Smith

Didn't we delist Nick Holman and Jack Martin?
You're right. We did. Do you want them back?

It's a fair point. Bailey Smith just told the world he spent 4 weeks at a mental health facility, now he's MVP or whatever. Bulldogs couldn't wait to see the back of him and his ex team mates hate his guts from what I've seen (possibly untrue but it's out there now) so obviously it's a tricky balancing act that we're not alone in failing to matter - Bulldogs getting another serve this year from Jamara. But if you can harness b the talent like Geelong has with Smith and Stengle then you have a huge advantage over the league. We need to spy on their operations and discover the secret.

We took a punt on Elijah. His problems started before he got to us. But, we failed.

I don't know either why we're trying to trade him. Either let him see out his final year or delist him and pay him the difference.

I feel for Oli who is sitting in the wings. He has been busting his gut all year.

Lol what are we playing at. As if anyone is going to trade for Elijah when we are pretty much broadcasting to the world that we are going to delist him anyway. We're a joke of a club honestly

Contracted for next year

Hasn't stopped us in the past. The point is, we are great at minimising the value of assets we don't want by letting everyone know we don't want them

I'd go out on a limb and say Cook would've given us that intel.
We just can give away farms etc or don't have the protection of overlords in the AFL HQ looking after us either.

We're a football club, not a rehab centre.

Enough of mollycoddling these entitled, shit for brains, primadonnas.

ENOUGH.

P.s - ITKs on Bigfooty reported Elijah was done months ago, why are we all feigning outrage and shock now?

Because we either keep him or delist him. What's the point in trying to get a trade if everyone expects us to delist him?

Why Gold Coast? They're so insignificant and inoffensive. They also have realistic trade targets compared to Sydney. What would people say to a Charlie-Ben King trade? Flanders seemingly out of favour, Walter an interesting project. Humphrey and Long are wonderful but no idea if realistic. Anderson and Rowell in the realm of fantasy. King is a free agent next year and is rumoured to want to come home. I just hope his height doesn't fool us into considering him a McKay replacement, he doesn't ruck and is vastly inferior at contested marking and general physical competitiveness. He's a more reliable goal kicker, though, and I think he and H could form an unstoppable duo.

Edit: auspicious timing with Effes dropping that rumour while I typed!

I'd be happy with:
Curnow and a pick to GCS
Flanders, Walter & Rosas to CFC.

I'd like Long or Humphries also, but I doubt they will be traded.

I'd be very unhappy.
Flanders is OK but a vanilla one-paced player.
Walter was a man-child that dominated U18 level but hasn't shown a lot at AFL level.
Rosas is a fringe player

When Voss was re-committed to many of us speculated that it was a sign of the club stand up to self-entitled players. That the tail would no longer wag the dog.

The evidence of TDK, JSOS, and Curnow, plus the treatment of Guv and Hollands perhaps shows that we perhaps weren't far off the mark and that we are trying to instil discipline.

The way the younger players seem to have responded seems very encouraging.

Agree however I wouldn't include TDK - he was made a ridiculous offer too good to refuse.

We all know drastic change is needed, so we need to deal with the drastic change and push through it. It sucks right now but let's see where it lands in 12-24 months.

And Charlie is one injury away from retirement.
But hey, it wouldn't be Carlton if we didn't overate our players and underrate opposition ones.
