Does it really matter if we still play the same game plan and structure?

Sorry didn't think of it. Competition is tougher anyway this year. So I missed out on Judd. And with Armfield, Robinson and perhaps Tuohy who can play roles similar to Carrots he's just missed out. May not have much left in him either.

For us to be top 4 next year I see the following players needing to push for our best 22.

Watson at CHB
Yarran at HB or wing playing 4 quarter football
Carrazzo fit
Thomas fit
Gibbs in the middle
Warnock as our No.1 ruck
Most of, if not all of Graham, Cripps, Temay, Holman, Menzel, Ellard, Bell, Lucas stepping up and really deserving/earning of a spot in our side.

I also want to see players in the reserves really pushing for a spot week in week out. Genuine depth and competition for spots.

Pretty much agree.

Was trying to work out the Rd 1 side (I assume Kreuzer won't play, Thomas shouldn't but probably will, and probably too early on Carrazzo), probably 18 or so pick themselves, and then the remaining four are horses for courses/who plays best and fittest at the time.

Think 2 talls down back (Everitt as second tall) should be the go for Port, maybe White in the side as a swingman as well.

The answer is pretty obvious.

Soapy lives really close to my Nan (same retirement home) and I spoke with him just the other day. Definitely our best 22.

Seriously though, it's like a 15 second walk from Soapy's place to Nan's and you have to walk past his place to get to Nan's so we always wave and say g'day when we pass. He doesn't always reciprocate - but I'm pretty sure he appreciates still getting the deserved kudos for being a Carlton legend.

With Harry Vallence? Sure...when I see him - which is 3 or 4 times a year. He doesn't get to watch much footy these days so I update him on the Blues and Seagulls when they have a good win. I keep Nan waiting but she doesn't seem to mind.

Because I am bored...
Boys can rotate over the nab/challenge games,
Older boys can play whenever, more looking at,
the younger boys, the boys who may/should take
the next step..
Buckley, temay, Lucas, bootsma, menzel, Docherty, graham, mcInnes and Watson.
Cripps, Giles and Holman, can't except to much..
When I say the next step, I am talking about more consistent
games in the twos/pushing for senior selection.
So going to leave a few of the older boys out, can play later,
Temay Watson McInnes
Docherty White Everitt
Lucas Carrazzo Bootsma
Menzel Casboult Tuohy
Buckley Rowe Reynolds
Warnock Murphy(c) Bell
From; Graham Judd Giles
Thomas Yarran Ellard Cachia

-Kreuzer and Henderson both have injuries..

-Want too see if Jamison and Henderson were
both out, how players like, Watson, White, Bootsma,
McInnes and Everitt would go, can one or more take
the next step??

-Judd and Thomas can play whatever game time they need.

-hopefully Casboult or Rowe can stand up, no doubt Waite will
miss x amount of games...

-Bell, Menzel, Graham, Watson and Docherty, all could help out our aging
squad and provide enthusiastic energy.

-Yarran needs to take the next step and play throughout the middle also.

-nab/challenge games can't come quick enough

Contrary to popular belief I do not think Curnow is best 22 for the year, with the likes of Armfield, Robinson and Tuohy in our side. But I have squeezed him in for Round 1.

Curnow is best 22 if we require a lock down. Second best AFL tagger last year.

Okay, lets get a team of girl guides in and train them up. We'll soon find some that are over six foot. It's all about 'structure'.

Even a girl guide would have kept McVeigh honest in last years final.
That's what was missing in that experienced coachs structured game plan.
