Agree Hollands was huge in the last and will be a fine player
The great thing about the second half of the year apart from the resurrection from the dead is that we now have a really good core of young players walsh Cerri TDK hollands Kemp Motlop who all have capacity to to improve and get better together with our Senior core that should mean we have sustained success
Add cowans binns carroll durdin to that lot as well

Lets build a dynasty

Any video or audio of the Blues-only radio (Sellers, Johnno etc)? I bet they went bananas in the last minute!

Must listen and see for Daisy Pearce saying "Oh, shit!" after Acres' goal.

The Melb commentary at the end is priceless

Who are the Melbourne commentators? Is the female Daisy? It doesn’t quite sound like her, but maybe it’s just the stress of the moment. And who is the bloke? He sounds familiar but I can’t place him.

Loved the Carlton-only commentary again
The bloke is Tom Morris. "I hate that song"

Not sure if the woman is Daisy
Reckon the woman's voice might be Lily Mithen

Friday night was absolutely incredible. One for the true believers.
Weitering to Hollands to Docherty to Acres to goal will live on in Carlton folklore for many years. Something I’ll never forget.
Walsh was outstanding on the night. BOG.
Cripps, Newman, TDK very good too, just to name a few.
Hard to believe we’re into a prelim from where we were at the bye.

According to “The Sunday Footy Show” Melbourne lost and we didn’t win.

Also didn’t appreciate Tony Jones drive by sledge of Lachie Fogarty and the Carlton Media Dept.

This thread has been a joy to read.
The family stories are brilliant and a common story. My boys have witnessed 2 Finals wins in a row and the noise of their Navy Blue Army. One had a cry after the song. The other in disbelief.

This is our Renaissance. I still believe with a bit of luck we can go all the way.

Thought Pitto did really well on Gawn especially when we hit the front and he had to win the centre bounce and he did.

Lever owned Kennedy. But Kennedy did kick the goals expected from a forward.

TDKs early goals were what our dreams are made of with this young fella.

Backline is superb.

Walsh is Mr September.

Our mids are running hot. They spread the load.

Don’t know what happened to both teams in the last kicking straight to the opposition

Could only be one winner and that was CARLTON !!!

The G was noisier than last weeks game. I didn’t think that could happen expecting a 50-50 crowd. I guess we are more passionate about our team and proud to belong.

Thought our bottom 6 did well. How the fk did we win that? Belief and persistence and we’ve been on a roll since quarter time against the GCS 13 weeks ago.

We are due for a big score.

Just realised another Barassi connection to the game.

Goodwin was a premiership player under Blight who was a premiership player under Barassi.

Fox commentators said it was the loudest they've ever heard the MCG, including the 2017 prelim, Rich v GWS.

I thought the Sydney game was louder.

I'm not sure if it's because I was level 4 against Sydney, so I had the roar of the lower levels coming up. Whereas against Melbourne, I was level 1.

Or, if it's because my hearing is shot.

It's probably both.

I haven't posted on here much since Friday, still taking it all in.

The crowd noise was so loud it was almost frightening, it almost had a life of it's own, a guttural noise that just grew and grew, I stopped celebrating at one point just to take it all in. It was like the entire supporter base was giving birth and letting out a cry of pain/relief/exhaustion all at once.

By far the loudest noise I have been a part of, that includes Aloisi penalty in 2005.

Sadly, there's an even bigger noise to dread.

I've heard it several times, been mentally and I thought - emotionally, equipped to deal with it before it happened.
Told people about it, warned them.

"I've been here - this is what it's like...
It smashes you all over.
You're instantly overwhelmed by it and Hating what it represents."

I've always thought I was ready.
Yet, in truth, you never really can be.
And thus despite all that, it has never ceased to catch me by surprise.

It's that noise that assaults you when Collingwood kick that first goal in a Grand Final.
It is literally like thunder.

In less than 2 weeks will we be facing it again?
After all this time?

We'll be ready - we will strike back and make an even Bigger one of our own!
Again and again and again until our boys hold that cup high.

simple - when we bluebaggers meet Collingwood in the GF we'll keep 'em goaless.

It all just caught up with me ten minutes ago.

Watching stupid tik toks of the crowd. Then this girl comes on and says she's been going to the footy with her grandfather for twenty years and finally they get to a prelim, pans to her grandfather who's in tears, I just lost it there, my son looking at me like wtf.

Round 22 was Max Gawn's 2nd lowest rated game of 2023. Friday's Semi-Final has replaced it, rating even lower.

A big reason for that? The impact Marc Pittonet has had, wearing him down physically alongside Tom De Koning throughout the game
