Take the @#$%&! mark. That’s just panic Effes
Young McGovern Weitering Marchbank are all good marks.
Weitering in particular has seriously lost confidence in his ability to take
an intercept mark, always going the punch. Contrast that with Steven May

stupid game…we win we’re the greatest…
Melbourne scam a last second win…THEY’RE
the greatest…!

stupid game…!

SO ANGRY…!

Shouldn't be.

We gave the game away in the end. Instead of playing kick to kick when we had possession, we kicked to contested packs. Not for the first time.

Don't blame the team, blame the coaches. Although the miskicks are unforgivable.

That's just nonsense. They tried to maintain possession but Owies kick missed the target and we were forced to kick under pressure.
The coaches did a great job. Reduced the effectiveness of Oliver, Lever and Langdon.
Despite playing the "best ruck combination in the AFL" and the supposed best midfield, we won the centre clearances and stoppage clearances with a ruckman that was being well beaten.
The strategies we went into the game with were mostly excellent.

I seem to be on my own here but I thought Oliver had a good game

The lack of composure collectively in this team is mind boggling. The effort was huge tonight but we just shit the bed at the end.

As soon a Stocker missed that kick to Saad you just knew what was coming. The prospect of being put out by Collingwood next week is sickening

Was that Stocker or Owies who miskicked to Saad?

Just back... Devastated..

We played well.. Good structures and play... Didn't allow loose Lever or Hibberd...
We played dumb footy at certain times and the last 2 minutes were typical of that..
We dominated the last... and never played tempo footy.... resulting in giving back the ball all too often...INCLUDING at the death

Shocking umpiring non decisions... If our tackles stuck... Zip... Nothing... Just drop or throw the ball and play on?? And to rub salt one free ended up being because the player was held?? WTF (Setters on Viney) Cripps clearly held and pulled off the ball.. Nothing....
Spoiling and hitting the point post is deliberate but handballing into the point post isn't??

Rubbish...

We also got killed in centre clearances... Clean take aways vs rushed when we got one... Very costly in the last...

Go Blues

and despite all the above going against us, we still should've won it

Brutal @#$%&! way to lose. With what was at stake. We couldn’t of [REDACTED] it up more if we tried.

I hope we can bounce back and bring that level of effort and intensity again. If the players are anything like me, it’ll be the opposite. Just about broken.

I tried to stop my quivering lip by jumping in bed and focus on my wife's pleasures.

I couldnt sleep properly and when I'd wake up I'd cuss, and my wife would ask "what's wrong? Talking in your sleep?"....and I'd just say ..."that last kick with 11 seconds to go...7 points up, 2 minutes to go....how...why...why didnt the ump pay throwing the ball to Oliver...why why"

The effort was fine - we bring that against Adelaide and we win - it shows you can’t be conditional with effort - the vinegar and salt for last nights result was washed away by going to the Sunnyboys gig at at Corner Hotel - but this still hurts a lot.

Well you're a lucky man...can't communicate

At the Corner!!

That wouldve been brilliant. Did you feel young?

He was really not willing to pay frees to Carlton that were right in his face.

Its just not right for an ump to do that at the highest level.

I didn't have any issue with the umpiring at all. Thought Stevic was a big upgrade on Cheat Williamson.

They got a shitty off the ball one before half time. We got two. At least they were consistent on what they were targetting.

It was. There where another 1 or 2. Stockers sling tackle was very, very dangerous and it highlighted the umpires mindset for the night.

The umpires were under instruction to give us very little. It was disgusting and if I were in the administration this week, I would be asking some questions and demanding answers! I thought it was just going to be surrounding Crippa but it was much, much worse.

ps. I don't think we'll be hearing anything from the MRO about this particular tackle as well.

I thought Brayshaw was significantly better. We had no midfield and we had to limit Olivers influence. He was good but quite a bit down on his average disposals and clearances. That's a significant plus for our coaches IMHO.

Docherty and Setterfield had 7 of our 10 centre clearances. What odds would you have received on that prior to the game?

Agree - both moves where winners. Liked Setterfield's tag assignment as well. That was a big plus, time to keep evolving this option.
Hopefully if Cerra is fit, he can play wing with Walsh on the other and that might fix another couple of issues - as our wingman just don't get enough ball.
Stockers inclusion allowed Doc to be pushed into the midfield but we need Newman or Williams in to replace Newnes this week.
