Loyalty ended years ago.

Not entirely but it is heading down that track unfortunately...

That being the case, I don't like to see fans criticised for not showing 'loyalty' to a player anymore, current or past.

Cripps, Buckley and MENZEL are Silvagni's foundation.

That would kind of discount the rumour of at least one.

If that's wrong then possibly others are as well.

It may well be that SOS was investigating what Henderson was worth, that's his job. Doesn't mean every enquiry he makes or fields means he intends to get rid of the player.

And trading out players may not be a reflection on the quality of the player , or if SOS rates them, but more to do with the list profile we are attempting to mould.

I disagree. For many players there is still a lot of pride in retiring a one club player.

It's like marriage....you invest in it, and keep investing as long as you can. For some it doesn't work out but almost everyone has noble ambitions

Sellers just gave a massive whack to Henderson on FoxFooty. Henderson checked out months ago, and should've been dropped back then.

There are huge benefits in playing for one club. When Simmo is 60 people will tell him how they admired him, they'll tell Hendo he let us down. There can't be that much difference in money. Geelong have lots of better players than us to spend their money on, and much better players than Hendo.

It is not just an office job, part of the satisfaction is being a leader at a club and leading development and improvement. It is about relationships that are lost when you change jobs. And it is the biggest and possubly the only job many footballers have so you want to be welcome back when you retire. If you play for three clubs you don't really belong to any of them.

For players what they do as a footballer resonates thru their life and a few $ more for a few years, across your whole life is irrelevant. Loyalty can be its own reward and disloyalty its own burden. Am just disappointed that Hendo got to 102 games, would much rather he not get to 100 at any club like Hamill (who actually gave us more and was more justified in leaving). So unfair hendo gets to 100 and a great servant like Fisher was stranded on 99

I think Brian Lake, Shaun Burgoyne, Jack Gunston, James Frawley, David Hale and Josh Gibson are all pretty happy with their decision to change clubs.

I don't begrudge Hendo the move. Yes, he's been rubbish this year but if this is the year we had to have to launch a proper rebuild then maybe he did us a favour. We should get good value from him in a trade and continue the legacy of the Fevola trade for another 10-15 years.

this is the year we'll look back on where the band aid came unstuck and we had to deal with the real wound.

i'm more interested in welcoming and supporting the new kid then getting stuck into hendo.

If Hendo,Yarran, Menzel were tearing it up on field & finising in our top5 or 10 in the B&F would all this trade talk & action be occurring?

So, Vonnie Henderson (Lachies mother) just wrang 3aw to confirm Hendo was prepared to play the season out in the 1s or 2s, but was sent packing by the club.

So those at the club and in the media peddling otherwise are talking crap.

Sounds like the club is furious with his decision to leave...

Wait...what?

Didn't they tell him personally that he was to be traded at seasons end?

The club did not want him to play, they made that clear, they didn't want him to get injured and devalue his worth and to give someone else a go that did want to play for the jumper. I haven't heard any crap from the club regarding this matter.

Who honestly can blame Hendo for wanting a fresh start after completing his contract with what has been a basketcase of a club for 10 yrs ??

Let Vonnie know that there is a difference b/w "playing" and "competing". Nah...he stays home with Mummy in Birra until the season is finished, can't get hurties there.

Thats the problem Rexy.....he hasn't completed his contract. Yes the club is a basketcase, but Hendo as others have mentioned, checked out weeks ago. Basketcase or not, you are paid to play and for a forward to not kick one goal in five weeks is well below the standard you would expect from a professional footballer.

I think there might be a disconnect between what Henderson thinks should happen after he declares in front of the playing group after a game that he definitely doesn't want to be at the club next year when asked the question "who wants to play for this jumper any more?"

He was never going to get another AFL game after saying that. Not "I need to think about it at the end of the season, but I'm here to support you blokes", "I'm going to leave."

THIS!! Everyone that pays a membership is entitled to see the hired help burst their backside and play their heart out. Can you imagine sitting in the trenches and having some bloke say:

"actually chaps I am not really up for this and probably wont really have your backs on the next big charge but if you want me to tag along I'll try and make a decent fist of it until my transfer to the Air Force comes through!"

I could crap on the door step of the house of some people on this site and I am sure I will get a Thanks Clayman thread.

Hendo has let the club down - my club. He might as well have taken a dump on the door step of Princes Park. When we require a committed group of players to lead and take charge, he ran the other way. Thanks Hendo :screwy:
