John Barker is one of the greatest coaches I have dealt with, a total footy head but also has the personal skills so many in the game lack!

She hates Mick ?

Who in the media doesn't?

I hate how he has represented Carlton FC in 2014 and 2015.

Barker taking over

What I can see happening:
1) The players (now that Mick is gone) will suddenly start giving a shit and play their little hearts out
2) The team wins games and progresses up the ladder
3) The club gets a woodie and hires Barker on the spot

...and we know how the rest goes

...and if we didntt give hhim the job because there's a proven coach on the hoizon...one Terry Wallace...would we be part of people power revolt? Ala Paul Roos as interim coach at the Swans.

Who the @#$%&! would know what he's like apart from people inside the club?

He's got the gig, so be it.

Spoke to an employee of the club this afternoon, not overly enthused about the appointment...

Let's hope Barker can surprise!

Must have been a Carlton supporter

Will be nice to have a coach with manners and respect during post game press conferences. I forgot what it was like to not be embarrassed.

No one knows if JB can coach or not but he is a terrific guy who will be able to create positivity for the fans.

Exactly.

Breath of fresh air.

Totally agree.

Just highlights how much we were used to the draining and depressing Mick pressers.

Can't believe the mentality of people

You want us to stop talking about John Barker in the "Can John Barker coach thread"?

Yeah because you don't know yet.. You're guessing... Except jim!
I'll go with Barker as interim coach." Won't cost is significantly more " according to the buffoon!

And I'm hoping like hell he can succeed

You are basically right - I don't know anything.

Never played for Carlton. Never participated in any training sessions. Never attended a team meeting. Never played under any of the coaches. Never worked with or for any of the board. Shoot - I've never even met most of 'em!

But geez Synners, if we all stop posting because we don't "know anything" it's going to be a pretty quite web site.

I do agree with you though about wishing him well. He'd have to be the most slagged off assistant coach we've ever had. The irony alone of him succeeding as a senior coach would be worth heaps of posts.

My big concern about coaches is not team performance.
I prefer to worry myself about how they are on the mike at a press conference.
I'd vote for a coach who could rap.

Bit of a contradiction of terms there.

It's been said repeatedly how MM appeared to represent himself first with little regard for our club.

Looking forward to Barker at least attempting to masquerade a club first mentality. There may even be noticeable traces of sincerity.

Always a bonus.

At least he was nice in the post match presser... that's all that matters to some on here.

Otherwise his real worth as a coach will be measured after the bye... when the emotion of the Mick sakcing subsides and he can implement his own game plan or at least tinker with the current one.
