As the players take their positions before the first bounce, each and every Essendon* player is going to turn to his opponent and whisper: "when that ball gets bounced, you have nowhere to hide. We're going to break you".

And our players will shit their pants and avoid the contest, and go down by 100 points (at least).

That depends on what you choose to do.

Should you decide to watch Spartacus...

..you say can't, I say won't..

....why are players like simmo, doc, hendo, everitt running all game up and back..?.. ....even smith who is blatantly not fit enough is trying as had as he can for as long as he can until he is spent, ditto cripps...... ..too many players lack of effort/heart.. ..not fitness..

Nah,

Saw it in the first game. Our guys could not chase a guy an arms length ahead of them 10 minutes into the second quarter.

..sure, but no way that is a fitness issue.. ..not for seasoned players so early in the season and in a game.. ....chasing players to put on pressure takes effort.. ..we lack effort.. ....we have some players that do put in the effort.... ..others simply don't.. ..it's just token crap.. ..too many want to play shoot out footy.. ....its as if they'd rather save their energy for the next stoppage to try and go forward, but running back to Chase to bring numbers for support isn't worth their effort..

..Cimm, our beloved blues don't love us back.... ..I agree there is something seriously wrong, but I don't think it is a fitness issue.. ....it can't be.. ..we have fit players, the preseason training period was actually good for a change.... ..seasoned fitness levels don't just dry up.. ....like the names I listed above, obviously some use their fitness.. ..others don't. Not because they can't, but because they won't..

....fitness levels looked up in both games' first Qs because the opposition was off their game.. ..but as soon as the tigers/eagles applied heat we just crumbled and went back into our shells, effort levels blatantly dropped.. ..that isn't about fitness.. ..it's about fragility..

Agree, fitness cannot be an issue. We have Buttifant......he knows what he's doing, doesn't he ? It's 2015....not the 70s....all guys on AFL lists are fit. The Power last year were fitter than most due to large running loads (80kms plus per week in the pre season !), and that seemed to give them an edge late in games.

It must be heart, crap game plan, and some pretty crap (but not unfit) players.

If you do what you did last year you're behind.

Just took the club a couple of years to get Levi a kicking coach.

What makes you think Buttifant is all over this?

....I don't hunk sag will be the first that is trying to sort out his kicking.... ..but if Levi won't put on the hours to correct his action, no specialised teaching will help.... ..and it's obvious that he hasn't, because good or bad technique, he has no consistent technique.. ..it's all over the place.... ..this means he doesn't practice enough to develop any kind of consistency to his kicking action..

but, that's just it ... it won't be a building block going forward, because the same buffoons in charge will still be in charge. and the same overpaid, pretty boys will still be the core of this squad. there's no draft or free agency to look forward to anytime soon, not that it means anything with the mob responsible for building our list, as they're incompetent.

the way i see it ... the least the players can freaking do, is run, tackle and bleed for the cause this saturday and do whatever it takes to not get dusted.

if they're fit, lets bloody see it. if they want to play for the jumper lets see it.

too many excuses about front office this, and front office that etc etc ... they're bad, we all know it ... but they're not taking the field.

at the end of the day it's the players taking the field who need to at some point show some pride in the jersey, some steal, put in some effort and play like they bloody care or find a new occupation, perhaps something matching their physical output like accounting or IT?

the players need to stop looking for easy outs. I don't give a shit if they don't like the gameplan, or don't like the position they're playing.

suck it up and get on with it. i'm so sick of watching our players pout and sulk and not put in. And after listening to the guy here who sat behind the carlton dugout on the weekend and listened to the players piss and moan and swear every time they got sent back out onto the field ... that's about the last straw for me for this playing group and coach.

Murphy needs to step down as captain ... or step up and take the bloody role.

either or.

we cant look at this as a game thats any more important than any other game.....

it just needs to be a game where we start moving in the right direction win or lose

... and really, if we can't find some hunger and will against this mob, we're totally incapable of it.

it will show us exactly how far deep in this mess we are, imo.
