I thank God that I used to be able to goto Princes Park and watch the once mighty Blues. Gee they were heady days, but flower me this mob would struggle in the old VFA.

This.
They have to do something to get some midfield drive. Judd and Bell both shut down that quarter. Put Gibbs in the middle. Put Yarran in the middle. Put Touhy in the middle but do something!
In the first quarter, we roved to Natanui but the second, they got the clearances on top of his work.

It's easy to say Jones, Hendo and Casboult have done nothing but the ball didn't get near their end that quarter.

Smith looks lost.

From my 10 yr old "I thought Mick Malthouse was supposed to be a good coach?".

and "why after 3 years are we worse?".

I have no answer for him...

That quarter was the worst I have seen.

Start again - There is no good to see here.

Hopeless trying to get the ball out of defence. No clue at all. And then, if West Coast slip a little, there's no-one forward. Bomb it to contests, turn it over, everyone back to defence for another ten minutes. How can we be coached so badly?

Every AFL team now has us marked as "never worry how far they get in front, we can beat Carlton".

I'm moving on to scotch. Beer won't cut it for the next half.

I don't know the stats, in particular frees but I'm sure the Eagles are favoured. Seems 9/10 they get and 50/50s we would call play on they get. That changes a lot, but....

We are not running the ball out and linking.

Take out Judd...and he has a hard tag now...and not much else. I'd move Judd.

Murphy is....average....and needs to get in thick and stand up..Selwood like, hodge like...look like every other captain like...mmmmmm

White gone with as trapped knee and MM expects Clem to play 4tr if the knee goes...FMD.

It's not all the coach. It's our leaders and it's not Simmo BKB.

Ball to forward line is crap. We need to run it in and Carrazzo Curnopw and Ellard are neither elusive nor inclined to run on and take them on....imagine 3 serious running players...say Kerr Cousins a Judd running the ball forward and giving our forwards passes on the chest.

Midfield needs a shake up and it ain't Nic Nat leading the charge and Woods losing...it's the mids....and the umps could help.

We can win this....needs the few runners freed up an moving the ball by linking.

This is now a pattern of us spending an entire quarter unable to break through a fairly straightforward defensive zone.

Pattern for all the time under Malthouse.

Is Murph gonna show some heart?
How can we start games so well then turn to absolute sh@t the very next qtr? Polar opposites two weeks running
Eagles are a bottom 6 team with massive outs.

This. 1000 times this.

It was just smashball in that quarter and we wrestled back into the contest despite not scoring anything.

They were having as much trouble with disposal efficiency as we were by the end of it. We're in a good position now to reset, and smash them from the clearances. They're punching themselves into submission as we absorb these blows.

Down their end? They don't have an end.

Our forward 50 was empty of players the whole qtr

Our forwards were up contributing to the Eagles defensive wall

Agreed, while it is rather unlucky to have the sub come on in the first quarter again last week showed Smith is not up to it. Better to start rookies on the field.

I turned the TV over and watched Clark Beckham.
Usually I'd stay watching and cursing, but you know what..
I'm at the end of it.
One thing giving me some hope is that folks are realising what a dud MM has turned out to be.
As for our captain,
honestly?
if he's not injured, he is a major embarrassment.
it's just beyond depressing to support this team.
