http://www.theage.com.au/afl/carltons-l ... al_twitter - lachie temporarily delays contract talks

Doesn't read as bad as the title suggests.

Quote:
Carlton's key position swingman Lachie Henderson has temporarily delayed contract discussions, which are now expected to begin in the coming weeks.

Henderson, 25, is out of contract this year, and while he has chosen not to begin negotiations yet, the Blues say there is no issue and they expect discussions to begin "in a few weeks".

Henderson's manager, Tom Petroro of Stride Management, confirmed the player did not want to address his contract immediately, but that he and the club were talking regularly and negotiations would begin "when the time is right".

"We're in constant dialogue with Carlton Football Club and when the time is right we'll talk through it, because we are talking," said Petroro, whose client is viewed as the most accomplished and proven key-position player on the club list.

Carlton football operations chief Andrew McKay said the club expected negotiations to open soon. "We're in constant conversations with Lachie's management," he said. "We're not in negotiations at this stage yet. [But] we're confident the process will start in the next few weeks."

At least it confirms the club want to sign him.

I'm hoping as part of our List Management we are playing a side like this come round 22.

B: Buckley Jamison Jaksch
HB: Yarran Henderson Sheehan

Foll: Kruezer Whiley Murphy
C: Docherty Cripps Gibbs

HF: Menzel Casboult Everitt
F: Smith Foster Walker

Int from: Simpson Bell Touhy BB Graham DVR Byrnes Walsh Giles

I think Judd will retire and Thomas will go for surgery on shoulder.

That line up as part of a rebuild gives me hope. Add 15 -20 quality players to that list and things can turn around over the next 3-4 years.

What a kick in the guts that would be if he decided to walk.

Because that reads like 12+ on the senior list.

I hope so. We have 3 years to turn over the entire list.

GCS created a new list with concessions. The best kids in the land.
They're doing well.

When is the GWS going to win a flag.

Can't throw the baby with the bath water.

We trade 1-2 for great picks to supplement the ones we want.

We have already got good kids who are yet to mature or for us to develop.

Just got to be smart and not desperate.

We've already tried the rebuild strategy as others have and have a look at how many 2nd 3rd and 4th rounders we failed with over the last decade.....30!

We have to be smart. Keep those who will be valuable and those who might be there when we play finals or the very least help develop players.

I'm with a sports psychologist with a leading team tomorrow, daddy sitting our kids whilst developing our teams skills...I'll be interested to hear what he thinks.

Use picks on good footballers instead of busts and the rest will look after itself.

Jesus! I'd want Murphy for Aish plus something...

If it's Aish for picks, expect us to downgrade our first rounder and chuck away our second... doubt we'd do that.

He will probably end up at Hawthorn. A late first round pick will get it done whereas we would give up the farm.

Henderson was just on SEN. He was asked about stalling his contract talks and he said that nothing has changed. He wants to start playing good footy and he and the club are happy to wait. He said the club had more important things to worry about than him. He did also say that as you get older issues such as club success do start to come into your thinking.

i hear hes told people close to him he wants to stay... but thats before this season began

he should go....

there is nothing for him here .. except if we pay overs..

and ... thats not why any athlete should be somewhere

should always be about opportunities for success
