MLG has been in the board for 2 years now. During the two years the in has restructured the recruiting department with 3 full time recruiters added to the crew.

The club had to move on Greg Swan because some felt he enjoyed the footy department side if things to much and the off field came secondary. There's also the Paul Roos blunder which pretty much sealed his fate at the club.

MLG wants to appoint a new CEO that will focus on the off field and go about changing the culture and will appoint a football director to look after the football side of things.

Most likely we will see McKay be both footy ops manager and head up list management

Maybe we think Rogers is the 2nd best in the business. If so I'm happy with that.

that would be terrific if mckay was footy dept boss and list manager

thats two feathers in his cap... but he went for the ceo job.

though i know the mathiesons dont rate him even as footy op manager
so we tried to restructure recruitment failed and end result is shane stays but with 3 year contract and mckay wears 2 hats now....

make it happen!!!

Tom Elliot has been told to shut his mouth and stop feeding a number of journos bull dust about MLG being a mathieson puppet. Tom Elliot had a crack at the presidency but had no support.

Those calling for a spill of the board need to think carefully. A club like ours cannot lose good people like MLG and even Pratts and mathiesons..... You think the clinics buggered now, we'd be worse off without the support of these people/families I tell ya

Forgetting about the footy op manager, what is Mathiesons judgement like?

What football background do the Mathiesons have that means they are capable of appointing the right people?

Carlton is "too good" to go through the interview process for important appointments like the coach.

And the Mathiesons know best.

Andy McKay was being pursued by several clubs and the AFL did not want to let him go either. What would money bags Mathieson know about good football operators within the industry.... If he did, why doesn't he approach them with an open book ?

MLG is integral to this club..... He is a protected and their won't be a challenge for this reason

Mathieson support is integral..... His public views aren't.

Wright was approached to work alongside Rodgers.

I suspect the club was pretty nervous about being left without a senior recruiter going into what is clearly going to be an important draft for us with access to some elite talent.

But which clubs were going to fall over themselves to take Shane Rogers.

Wright wasn't going to replace Rogers....not sure what the big deal was, though I would have gone 2 years instead of 3

I don't think it's so much about who would poach Rogers. More about who would actually be left to run the recruiting department, if he went.

Like I said we couldn't do any worse by just using Emma Quayle's list.
