Can't agree. Against Port we played some better football although it was in patches. Port are a much better side and it was a better standard of football.

Last night was pathetic.

Did Brock not go to the huddle during the 3rd quarter break (couldn't hear the commentary just saw Brick sulking on the bench)? If so, VFL is worthy after that complete shizen effort!

He sulked on the bench and looked pretty shitty. Body language wise it looked like murphy and mclean had a few words at end of first half

That was as bad an effort I have seen from us in a long long while. Richmond are average and soft and the standard of the game overall was pathetic.

I don't understand the lack of effort from the start?? Why? We lost last week and we should of been fired up. We were soft.

Take out Simpson and Murphy and no one seemed to care.

It shouldn't be tolerated. I will be very interested in the reaction at selection next week because it shouldn't be tolerated under any circumstances.

If you dont believe that what you are doing is going to acheive the desired result you dont perform at your best

Maybe, I don't know.

Personally I believe we have a bunch of soft players that started in AFL playing an unaccountable fast break game under Ratten and are having trouble playing a defensive style.

Also, they simply aren't that good. Very poor list lacking genuine leaders.

pros
buckley sensational never took a backwood step, absolute gut runner
bell can see his running patterns changing, one of the only players to run by for the handball
warnock saw him trying to step up a notch thought he plays much better without the rotation of kreuzer
daisy played some good passages can see his class
murphy had some good passages of play and he did try and take the shot at goal a couple of times

Thought rowe and white were ok in defence and would rather see them persisted with than casboult or bootsma

cons
tuohy dragged deep into defence took away some of our running
gibblet "knocks on his forehead with a finger" is anyone there?
kicking for goal, lack of run and overlep, blazin into forward line with robbo bomb

Maclure is right. Too many introverts.
We re a team full of nice guys with hardly any killer instinct.
Top 4 teams laugh at us (Hawthorn, Geelong, Sydney)
Bottom 4 teams know they can challenge us (Saints, Dogs last year)
Time to face it.
Hughes and his 10 years of recruiting half back flankers, project players and John Wests like Curnow, Bell, Cachia, Rowe, Casboult etc has ruined us
The fact he rated Robbo a Top 10 pick says it all
The fact he picked Lucas ahead of Talia says it all
This list will take us no where, and I think Mick as hard as he is trying, is finding that out.
Time for a cleanout of a lifetime at the end of the year.
Start planning for era post Judd, Waite, Carrots, Simmo, Scotland.

Aided and abetted by Brett Ratten who rated Sam Rowe worth a second round draft pick.

FMD.

More pissed off this morning in the cool light of day than I was last night - hoping that Richmond would put us out of our misery by half time so I could get home early and get some sleep.

Richmond are shitter than we are.

Made me sick to see them a*sing goals from all over the place (eg. Ellis and his two flukes from 50m out), and we had countless easy shots and either sprayed them or misdeed everything all together.

No its not. They chocked again, We just couldn't finish them off due to out pathetic turnovers and goal kicking efforts.

Tonight was a watershed moment.

We should have won the game by three goals with opportunities, but the result meant nothing because the proof of the pudding was the ingrediants.

Buckley is now in the side to stay. He will move from the backline to forward over the course of his career. He has got it. Will be at the very least a good Carlton player, potential to be great.

Warnock played an outstanding game despite the two obvious stuff ups. What is twelve point here or there when in reality if everything went well we should have been 42 points better off.

Menzel is a gun. What is it, 5 multiple goal efforts in 9 games? Some of those off the bench. Absolute gun and will keep improving.

Thomas will keep getting better every week.

Everitt already proving a solid pick up. Will never star, but is a footsoldier. In an area where we need it.

Curnow just keeps on improving, where is this guys ceiling?

On the negatives, pretty obvious that Robinson and Touhy are living on borrowed time. Touhy is great on the run but has shown many times that he cannot take the proper defensive position in a one on one contest. Hopefully Docherty can take over Touhy's spot and help us in that area.

The Robinson one is easy, actually it could easily be either Robbo or McLean.

Cripps cover both of these blokes in almost every aspect of the game already.

Fitness is his only issue. So what? There is the sub rule. Play Cripps flat out for three quarters every game and let the sub on. Too easy.

Cripps is beyond elite. I know this is a big call but in my opinion Cripps is the first absolute superstar player we have recruited from the draft since Koutoufides.

This boy is special with a capital S. It is sad that it has taken this long. I am talking superstar, do not get me wrong this boy is going to make it big time. The sooner he is in the senior team the better.

He is exactly the type of player we need, which is a stupid comment really because every team need superstars.

Who is this guy?

And what drugs is he on?

Nothing honourable about it - after the humiliation of the first quarter, against a quality side we would have lost by 12 goals, not 12 points.

My cousin played with the Bullants for about 6 years and said exactly this.
Never played with more introverted, quiet humans.
Said when blues players were dropped or came back through injury, there was just no talk, leadership or drive from them.

Did they do any physch analysis on any of the guys they recruited?? Any character testing.
FMD Wayne Hughes and the recruiting dept have absolutely cruicified this club.
Why were they left to continue for so long? Doing so much damage.

Jamison: Unreliable field kick.
Curnow: Ordinary kick.
McLean: Lacks depth on kicks.
Murphy: Bad kick for goal.
Gibbs: Good kick, often chokes when kicking for goal though.
Bell: Kicks like Robbo.
Robbo: Kicks like Bell, only worse.
Garlett: Craps himself when kicking for goal.
Ellard: Ordinary kick.
Waite: Unreliable kick. Can kick goals from anywhere, can miss 'em from anywhere.
Warnock: Argh.
Lucas: Unreliable kick.
White: Mongrel punts.
Rowe: As above.

Then there is Casboult and Carrazzo waiting in the wings! Judd's a crap kick too.

Turnovers, missed shots on goal, so it goes year after year.

Mick has said that Recruiters are just as if not more important than a Coach at a Club.
The fact that Mick has only been at Carlton for just over a year, and Wayne Hughes is now gone (after being around the Club for 9 YEARS prior to Mick) says exactly what he thought of him.

The shite
Rowe. Stupid footballer, little to no awareness.
Robinson. Stupid footballer, has 1 move. BOMB long and hope. Must turn the ball over more than anyone else in the league
Warnock. Can ruck and thats about it. Missed an easy goal and coughed one up in the last minutes because HE CANT KICK TO SAVE HIMSELF
Lucas. Still can't kick. Don't know whether its his kicking or his decision making but 4 bounces down the wing to kick it to 3 tigers is bullshit.
Bell. Has a crack and i like his effort but he is 3 steps behind everyone else in his thinking
Gibbs. Just looked like he couldn't care less and missed 2 shots by a looooong way. Player of his ability should be kicking those

The less shite
Buckley was probably the highlight for me. Had a real crack, wasn't afraid to take them on and is absolute lightning across the ground
Waite can still mark anything. Was dangerous but just needed to kick straight.
Hendo. Probably our best player at either end. Obviously not fully fit but we need 2 of him. Maybe 3
Menzel is class and will just get better. Keep playing him and buckley.
Everitt was a good pickup and a massive upgrade on a number of player on the list.

We are a loooooooooong off

I saw many birds being flipped to random Carlton supporters as they left, including a few offers to "meet up after the game". It's bad enough if the guys are giving you grief during the night and you're giving it back (not that I advocate such things), but picking randoms out because of the colours they're wearing is quite pathetic.

When you've witnessed the decades of mediocrity and false hope that they have, wins over sub-par opposition would undoubtedly feel like a GF win.

When was the last time a Carlton side played 4 quarters of consistent hard contested football?

FMD.....

Sam Rowe. Just abysmal. Offers nothing. To compare Watto to him is unfair to a very average albeit young footballer. At least Watto offers something offensively from time to time. Rowe is just [REDACTED]. How many times do you need to learn from under 10s up that you don't call for the footy from a stagnant position. Did it two or three times last night. One was holding the ball, and the other pressured into a turnover. Just shit. Was Watson injured? Conditions? Whats the go? Normally, I'd say bring Watto back in for Rowe, but, would strongly favor debuting Giles this week ahead. Just a hunch, nothing more. Can't go off much else with the VFL bye. [REDACTED] thing is that he's probable to stay given he's the back up ruck/Mick's preference for Hendo to play forward/don't think you can play Warnock and Wood in the same team.

Everything else about Robbo has already been said. Gut feeling says Ellard gets another go at it.

Thought Lucas offered a lot in that last quarter. Happy with what he brought to the table.

Rapt for Bucks. He brings a lot to the table both on and off the field. Certainly not an introvert, and he's got a certain sense of self-awareness about him. He carries himself well. For a third year player, he's got a fair bit of leadership qualities, and I'd persevere with him.

Tuohy has gone backwards in what he brings, but Monfries did SFA last week, and thought Dusty was pretty quiet for most of the night too. He stays. For now.
