not when it really counts.
Many of our players cant handle pressure and we still have no leaders except for Simmo and Hendo.

Our so called superstars are introverts who don't step up like that Third quarter against the Swannies.

So until they do the jury is out.

..not nearly as relevant as when i first posted my reply to your 'now PC edited' comment regarding our team's style of play..

....but in seriousness we have played more man on man accountable finals type footy, and yes we have cracked under some pressure and real work ethic.. ..but that is to be expected when you consider where we have come from, it takes a few seasons of playing finals footy week in week out to build a team capable of sustaining it..

I always have a good laugh to myself when I hear people say things like we are not a Top 4 list (other way too) like we have any idea. Once people realise how little we know (is it even knowable?) about what is required to become a sustained success the better we will all be. Fact is not one commentator / pundant / poster saw the rise of the biggest and most succesful club (Geelong) happening at the start of 2007. Most people had them written off and maybe scratching around the finals, certainly not a list that was about to dominate the league. Prior to 2010, Malthouse was washed up and the Pies although competive were no ones choices as a flag list. How did that go? Swans although always admired as being competitive were certaintly no ones choice as a Flag contender in 2012. No one saw the Crows enter the top 4 in 2012, Power to top 5 this year, Eagles recently, the list goes on and on and on.

So much goes into a successful year, much of it beyond anyones control (draw, injuries, form, right day), and when you combine that with the luck of the draw we call recruiting (go check the success rates of recent premiers, they all are below 50%), it is beyond me how anyone can make the type of calls we see on this board all the time.

You're talking about upholding standards right?

So are you deliberately being a hypocrite with your use of infantile terms, or are you so blinded by your own ignorance that you can't even see the contradiction in the way you're making your point?

Happy with adding Laidley.

Agree with Effes that we should be adding another Assistant though, someone fresh out of the game. Someone to run alongside the players at training, hand in their back and tell them this is how hard you need to be running (thanks Doc).

Hell, let's lash out and get two of those guys and stash one of them in development.

Let's be innovative and find a way to pay for it.

I will put this post and Camel boys in the memory bank of the Laidley thread and see what happens over the next year or two.
CB we are miles off it at the moment.
The clubs on and off field performance highlights Blind, Ignorant, Contradictory, hypocritical behaviour. Ask you guys a direct question like
How much debt should we be in by the end of 2014
Where should we finish next year given the fact that no club will be caught cheating with drugs

and you blokes will just give waffle as an answer.

The difference was Cook and Costa. Should have named the stand after them. Without those 2 Geelong would still be treading water. We have Sticks and co and they dont have much of a clue on how to have sustained success over a long period in the current climate. Thats the difference.

How come we cannot land one of the ex Geelong players, like Corey? FFS, are we just amateur at attracting talent to the club?

I guess it helps that 'plenty' of his ex premiership mates are currently at the Doggies so the drawing power is strong.

Your post is pretty lame considering we just attracted 3 players from other clubs plus 2 from Ireland.

Regards Cazzesman

The team you work with and record in selecting players at the draft over the past 10 years is pretty lame IMO!!!!

Did a small child help you come up with that response.

'Is not/is so' - may simply suffice from now on.

Anyway back to our conversation............................

You said 'We are amateur at attracting players'.
I said 'We just attracted 5 to the club'.
You said "Yeah but your mother wears army boots!!!!'
I said 'It's all they had in the shop at the time'.

End of rational discussion. :screwy:

Regards Cazzesman

You see, this is part of the clubs' problem!!! Attitudes like 'exhibit a' have us in the pickle around quality of footballers at the club!! Stats don't lie and the more amateur appointments/selections of players we get the further away we get from 17!! I want to see more of Geelong at Carlton or even Sydney, or Hawthorn. They've been pretty successful over the past 7 years, and we could learn a little bit from any of them, don't you think? Means we are not working hard enough to attract. Everitt is hardly inspiring.

Don't tell me my post is lame then try to defend it, amateur!! You work for the cfc. Crawl back to your hole and focus on getting our selections right in two weeks time rather than spend your time on this forum!!! :fight:

Okay lets skin this back to something that is easily digestible for you.

Did we or did we not just attract 3 players from other teams to Carlton in this trade period?
Did we or did we not just attract 2 Irish lads to come half way around the world to play with Carlton?

Once you have 'googled' the answer, then please tell me why you think we are Amateur at attracting people to the club.

I guess you can add Mick Malthouse to the list as well if you care to.

I am a fan of the Laidley appointment too.

Has anyone heard if Kerr is interested in coaching? Not sure he will be running alongside players if he has crook knees but possible in development.

Holy Crap.

What an awesome effort. We attracted 3 players. WOW. One a FA who we offered more money than anyone else. A young kid who supported Carlton and never liked Brisbane and a player told he wasn't guaranteed a spot and forced out by the Franklin recruitment.

Then we got 2 Irishman in the last few years. Lets just put the cue in the rack and celebrate. Swann and Sticks must be congratulated. What a remarkable effort.

WOW that is amazing. I got it wrong. We are incredible.

I am blown away by how impressive this club is. Ninth is the new first.

I've never pretended we're premiership contenders. I understand we have many issues, on and off field, that are potentially holding us back.

I also undertstand that making homophibic remarks to support a point of view is a piss weak way to act.

^ This

Again, if that's the best we can achieve in attracting players, therein lies THE PROBLEM. Is that clear enough? If that's your version of attraction of talent to the club, WOWEE. Top 4 next year, here we come!!! :screwy:

I have a few homosexual friends who would laugh at the statement I wrote. They just don't take themselves too seriously. The fact that they are homosexual and I am a hedro is something we don't have a problem with and in fact we take the piss out of each other and laugh.
The problem is we take life too seriously. So lighten up a bit

Take a leaf out of Cam and Mitch from Modern Family

I mean what are you allowed to write and say these days.
All the shit Essendon* copped on this site and I didn't see the mods take much action

So really what you are saying is double standards and laughable

The problems that homosexuals have is when they hide it.

Too many rules and what you cant say leads to too many double standards something I personally have big problems with
