I know it has nothing to do with how they'll line up on Saturday, but that bench is built for trench warfare.

Let them all play together and make Scotland sub. A shorter game will do him good before big game next week.

Wouldn't be totally opposed to this, but playing Scotland behind the ball lets Gibbs play more midfield/forward, and improves our chance for a big score.

And some clubs have played GC 4 times since we last did.

On the record for gaps between games I'd reckon you need to look at the war years.

Several clubs didn't field teams in some WW1 years (in fact only 4 clubs participated in 1916).

Geelong were in recess in 1942 and 43.

OK, post-war record then

Yep - good move given that they've decided not to fully rest anyone.

A few people are saying that we must pump GC, but I don't think that this is really the case anymore. Someone posted
somewhere the numbers -- IIRC a ten goal win should cover even Freo thrashing Melb.

Yeah, but I don't trust Melbourne to not lose by over 100pts

I want us to pump GC by 100+ pts so Freo need to boot an AFL record to top our percentage

So he will only get 38 disposals and 2 brownlow votes instead of 45 and 3 votes

Went down to open training tonight at Metricon. Was pretty pleased with what I saw. Boys were very upbeat, very vocal during drills, clean hands and VERY accurate at goal. Murph had a very light session as did Kreuze, Armfield was off in a far corner for most of the session. McCarthy moving well, getting involved. Levi moving well. Intense ballwork with Murph, Ellard and Brock in particular, they all came through well.
Kicking drills and handball drills all looking pretty slick. Yazza out there practicing his golf swing with an invisible club between drills and Eddie was throwing little punches at him, bit of play fighting going on. Tuohy was a little sloppy in a couple of instances. Good spirits. Waitey moved well, slipped over during game simulation but was okay, slotting them from outisde 50 at will, Walker too. Mackay was out running around, looks fit anough to play this week. Must've been short on training gear - was wearing a 20 O'KEEFE training shirt.

Had a good chat to a fair few of the boys afterwards, all really switched on. Love it up here. Simmo said his jaw's 100%. McCarthy said he won't be playing but enjoyed getting brought up here with the team. Tuohy was hopeful he can get out there and deliver, seemed a little down in confidence so hopefully he has a blinder. Gibbsy and Eddie were pretty pumped. Someone mentioned Ablett having the flu and Gibbsy said doesn't matter in or out, doesn't change anything, we know the job we have to do. Gotta love Duigan, such a good bloke, seemed pretty relaxed. Even managed a minute with Judd. Asked Scotto about the court case, he reckons it doesn't look good but what will be will be. Talked to Ratts for a few minutes after everyone had left and he was pumped, reckons everything's how it should be and they're ready for the next couple of weeks.

Lovely weather up here at the moment, mid to high 20s, no rain. Ground looks fantastic, there's no wind...I've got a feeling the boys will click again and this will be a large win with pretty accurate kicking.
