Ellard, Russell, Thornton, Armfield and Walker the likely ins.

Better balanced squad with Thornton and Walker in.

This contest looms as an engrossing defensive battle. Both teams concede an average of 11.2 goals a game - among the best in the competition.

The Blues have an edge in terms of conceding the least number of inside-50s - a league-best 43.5 a game, compared with the Dockers' 45.8 (fourth best), but Fremantle has a clear advantage in stopping scores once the ball is inside its defensive 50-metre zone.

The Blues have conceded a score 51.7 per cent of the time the ball is in their defensive arc; the Dockers just 45.9 per cent.

Does anyone else think its not great to have our squad posted on the internet 2 days before officially named for all to see?

This is one thing I could never stomach.
Why all the intrigue and slyness ?
What are you afraid of ?
We should go on the front foot.
This is our team.
Come and get us.

You want to surprise the opposition with a last minute inclusion of Ellard?

You don't think Freo already have some idea of our ins/outs and haven't planned for them.

If we stick to our game plan, maintain our structures and we're mentally ready for each game... what would it matter if we name our team two weeks in advance.

As redback has said... "come and get us"

Wow, and I just copped it didn't I!! Wasn't having a go at anyone here. Was more towards some of the Bigfooty posters that seem to be in the know. This week I agree, all changes were pretty obviously, but in the past our changes have been posted a good 2 days in advance.

Just putting it out there.

Everybody involved in AFL knows the team changes well before they come out. It's the public and the betting markets that generally don't.

So why do clubs continue to plays games and bluff then?

Which one is it?

It's more about the betting markets I think.

Bit of chatter on Twitter between Brock and White that suggests the former is staying home and the latter is playing, but I'm hesitant to believe it's anything other than them taking the piss.

Thanks, i thought White had an injury. I feel for Mclean as he wasnt our worst last week and with 4 forced changes due to injury the writing is on the wall.

I think McLean will come back
after this week we have 3 at the dome
them Melbourne and Port
before Geelong back at the dome
He may play all 6
That may well be his farewell tour

Pretty sure I wouldn't have wanted Carrazzo or Laidler named in our side two weeks ago :?

YAWN.... McLean is not in the side for pace ... never has been ... never will be ... we all know that .... He is in the side because of ball winning ability ... he needs several games to settle into this (or not). We already have lots of pace. We need more work under the packs ... this is why McLean is in the side.....Phew. ...Seems like we go over and over and over this.

There are are lots of examples of slow players making it in the AFL. Give the bloke a chance. I think there are others in the side that require more scrutiny because they have had more chances.

You can't be serious!!! McLean hasn't had a chance? Tell me one game he has played that he has featured in our best players. Also, please list all the slow players currently making it in the AFL. Just remember McLean is not slow, he's super slow.

If we take McLean to Pattison's Stadium, we play with one less player. Just face it, he's no good, we made a mistake. Ellard every day of the week over McLean.

Surely you jest ....

Brock gets a game here and there ... he has never been give the opportunities others have to settle into the side. He needs 4 games in a row ... if he shows nothing ... then fair enough .... He is never going to be out there running fast at the ball on the wings of Subi (we have plenty of that type)... he will just run and run and get under the packs. We need that bad ... especially without Carrots and Curnow(maybe). So ... give the bloke a chance ... there's a good man.

As Ratts pointed out in the member email - half the team fly out early and the other, mostly those with family commitments fly up later in the week.

Not completely confirmed yet.

I'm with BBW on the Brock thing. If the bloke's ever going to come good for us, he needs to
play a few consecutive games.

I've noted two common posts here, ( I don't necessarily agree with either btw).

1) We are a super quick team that likes open space, but we come unstuck when it gets close and tight.
We need more grunt.

2) Brock's no good because he's too slow.

They're not absolute contractions, you can have a grunt player who's quick. But maybe, just maybe we have
enough quick players in our team and a plodder who'll get down and dirty might be a handy addition.

Maybe ... I'm not particularly sold on Brock, just think if he's got anything to offer we'll only see it if he plays
>= 3 consecutive games.

Maybe we need to slot him into one of our quicker line ups so he can be covered. Like the teams we put out in the first 3 rounds but swap him for Curnow. Then we fans will truly know if he can play a part.

The coaches probably already know. They measure his metres per minute. They know how many contests he gets to and whether he is playing his role defensively. I will leave the call up to them.

I was thinking about Mclean slotting into a line up with Kreuzer, Hampson, Judd, Murphy, Carrazzo, Yarran, Simpson, Robinson, Walker, Garlett, Gibbs, Armfield and Lucas. Shame the match committee doesn't appear willing to give it a go with Curnow out. Working Mclean into a quick line up would be a worthy experiment against the Giants.

Mclean and Ellard are better "grunts" than Murphy. One of Geelong's former leaders stated that one of their players would give a teammate a wink and roll over onto Ablett's opponent so he could get free. Murphy could have taken responsibility for Stanton and manned him up like Bradley used to do to Hocking or Matera. Guess it's easier to blame Brock for the downhill skiing and leave the stars alone like fanboys.
