Actually agree with you on this guy Whistler. Not a bad player.................runs very well through the guts which is the Dons weakness yet they ignore him.Strange to say the least.

Slowly running through the Foxtel replay.
It's like getting a DVD with bonus extras really, because you get extra footage and commentary where the commercials were.
Thanks Bombers, for the summer viewing package.

ps. For you tech heads..do ya reckon it's full HD or upgraded HD that Foxtel shows of the 7 coverage?

Under the headline Blues Smash Bombers The Age has published 9 images 12 identifiable bombers to 6 blues. Reads like an Essendon* win excluding the dejected Hille shot at the end and even that one is sympathetic in tone.

I'm not a tech head, but the 7 transmission is in SD. So I presume it's upscaled, but Jimmae will set me straight.

Jimmae, you are my hero, and I hope you know I only find the 'Jimmaewillknow' jibes funny cos they are true...as I'm sure all of us do. ('cept the ones who have it in for you!! )

You usually do know!!!
In fact, I think you've told me before, that next year..Foxtel will likely record alongside, or lend 7 their HD gear.
The reason I'm asking is, I can see a diff. between the 7 and the HD Foxtel reordings..as in..I can see blades of grass as opposed to a big blanket of grass...but not sure if I'd notice a big diff. between upgrade and full on my TV...having LCD..and not plasma.

ps. Thanks Buzz.

I don't know what the plan is for networks next year, but I think if Foxtel are serious, they'll have to. Seven's broadcasts are believed to be 540p, upscaled. SD broadcasts are 540i, so it's an upgrade, but HD broadcasts are either 720p or 1080i, so you're not getting the best quality image for the transmission.

Hopefully next year is the kick in the pants FTA deserves for completely perverting the point of HD. The idea that you can flick on 7Mate and watch something like The Love Boat when the footy's on the main channel is borderline offensive. The fact that OneHD has followed suit is a disgrace.

If they keep this stuff up, IPTV is going to wipe the floor with them in under a decade.

Isn't it 576

And you could have at least explained the difference between interlaced and progressive

you know..that takes me back.....
I once accidently hit that button in setup...before I had Foxtel.
The TV went black..and I coudn't get it back for a long, long time.
That was the day I knew I wasn't keeping up with technology. :yikes:

ummm...no need to explain it thanks guys....
but if you feel tempted...I'd like pictures and action cards please.

Blood oath it is a disgrace.
Complete waste of resources and basically just thumbing their noses at the General Public.

Sorry yes, please substitute 576 for 540 where I've mentioned it. Incorrectly recalled the resolution.

Progressive scan - signal is sent of image, line by line, top to bottom of screen

Interlaced scan - signal is sent of every odd line of an image, top to bottom, then every even line of the next image top to bottom, alternating

Interlaced was fine for CRT sets because of the nature of the technology but now with displays that can produce sharper and faster moving images, and thus a proper progressive scan output, it looks very average unless the TV is exceptionally good at de-interlacing the image.

On the eve of a new season I'd like to bump this thread.

I think this was my favourite Carlton win.

This game has made such a difference to our club.
It gave us the confidence to shake off the dark days and believe in the next premiership.

I can't imagine what would have happened if we'd choked.
Absolute watershed moment.

So proud of the team that day.
Let's see more in 2012!!!!

I actually watched the replay of this the other day.

The majority of the Bummers supporters stayed right til the end - not sure if they were hoping for a turnaround, but they stuck it out.

This time they decided to hang around in case they missed another 1AW mark of the year like most of them did in round 18 last year when there was a mass exodus!!! :donk:

Of course the blues didn't actually win that game,
It was all due to Stanton sabotaging the efforts of all the rest of Hirdy's brave army.

Blame Stanton!!!!
