I wonder if Pratt was still alive, whether or not Fev would have been traded.....

Does anyone seriously think that we would've sacked him in the first place if there was any chance of redemption for him at Carlton?

For those who say bring him back, what's changed?

Do you think he would be a better footballer now than he was when he left? At 31 after a year out of the AFL? Surely not. We'd be lucky if he was as good let alone better.

Did being sacked from Carlton dramatically change his approach? You think? You'd better have a chat to Vossy about that then.

Oh I see, being sacked from Brisbane, who were so desparate to get rid of him they paid him out a small fortune just to go, has miraculously given him the wake up call he needs.

Yeah right ... and I've got some shares in the new lane of the Westgate for sale if you're looking for a sure-fire investment.

IMO Ratten's done the right thing to publically knock this one of the head now.

At Carlton 90% of issues were 90% alcohol related. Would still be at the club if it wasn't for brownlow night

At Brisbane - Gambling issues, Fake statement about exposing himself in public to a woman and went off his dial when he fell asleep and his kid fell off the bed, caught train back to brisbane and got smashed, ended up in jail nye. I'm sure he was drinking because his wife told him where to go and was a bit depressed about letting his kid fall off the bed under his monitoring. That would cause anyone to drink in most people lifes after a bad breakup. Most people drink and get drunk when they have a bad break up or majorly depressed.

What he has done since:

2 months of rehabilitation
Has no reports of being drunk or upto mischief all year
Hasn't gambled on horses since, which caused his gambling debt.
Was forced to get a job and is on a radio station.
Looking like getting back with his family.
Kicking 46goals in 5-6 games in VFL. If it was ever any other player doing that you would be all over it.

At the moemnt you would not come out and say you would entertain the idea of Fev being back at the club. It would be a distraction from the playing group and club coming into finals. As far as it goes, Ratten doesn't have much say in what happens if we lose our first final. He will be lucky to keep his job.

Julia Gillard - There will be no carbon tax before the election
James Hird - I will not coach Essendon* next year.
Mal Michael - I am retiring, plays next year at Ess
Mark Thompson - I'm not interested in coaching elsewhere, where is he now.
The list goes on

At Carlton 90% of issues were 90% alcohol related. What about the other 19% ?

Would still be at the club if it wasn't for brownlow night Oh. That little exception.....

At Brisbane - Gambling issues, They were mainly at Carlton.....

Fake statement about exposing himself in public to a woman and went off his dial when he fell asleep and his kid fell off the bed, caught train back to brisbane and got smashed, ended up in jail nye. That would cause anyone to drink in most people lifes after a bad breakup. Most people drink and get drunk when they have a bad break up or majorly depressed OK, that makes sense now. If you have a bad break up, then all bets are off. Phew, I thought.....

What he has done since:

2 months of rehabilitation Really? Two whole months?? He must be Mother Teresa now
Has no reports of being drunk or upto mischief all year Bit selective there
Hasn't gambled on horses since, which caused his gambling debt. Could you qualify any more?? Hasn't gambled ON THE HORSES, but what about that little episode at the Casino?
Was forced to get a job and is on a radio station. FORCED??? That's a high recommendation! Got a job cos he was forced. And at least it's a hard-working job. On a radio station!!
Looking like getting back with his family. Lots of guys are with their families. BIG DEAL!!
Kicking 46goals in 5-6 games in VFL. If it was ever any other player doing that you would be all over it. He kicked 99 goals one year at AFL level - that's more impressive, isn't it? I thought he was even the reigning Coleman medallist when we let him go, so the 46 goals playing against witches hats doesn't really mean much!

Some very vaild points on page ten of this thread.

There is pros and cons on both sides.

As I said wait till the end of the year

As for the cazzeman I wonder what his view is on what should happen to Ratten if we lose to Essendon*.

My view
One year contract
we have improved
he has improved as a coach
but no longer our window is around 3 years.
if we go backwards then get rid of him
That's keogh's view not the clubs

As Life of Brian said "yes we are all individuals"

Barry Hall seems to be doing ok at 33, at his 3rd club

THIS

Hall's a very different person, and in any case I don't have an issue with Fevola going to his third club if he can find one dumb enough to take him.

Lucy would have a field day with some of you guys, (if you've never read Charlie Brown ignore that).

Now I understand ... Fev was to blame for all of Carlton's problems ... we had players of such weak character that they were so easily led by Fev ... Fev was the only talent we had in the forward line and he did not allow other players to develop their talent ... shame on Fev. Once we got rid of Fev all became rosey because he was the one doing the damage.

I have always thought Club Culture was over-rated ... but now I see that its talent that is over-rated ... how silly of me.

I have a clue about what is going on behind closed doors at Carlton and i know for a fact that Fevola's progess is being monitored closely by the recruiting and coaching staff at Carlton. No point putting your hands between your legs Cazzesman. Fevola will be a AFL player next year and it could very possibly be with Carlton.

There are two very similar, yet differently named posters in this thread. And then there's that other one...

In my eyes its very simple, it comes down to respect.

He did not have respect or his captain, club, teammates and himself... some may think its a once off and isolated to the brownlow night... I don't think it was and even so, once is enough in this case. (In my opinion)

But another club should pick him up if he has sorted himself out (it will only be limited if at all), then if would be a world of good for the club involved and Fev.

Fev being at an AFL club next year is a certainty. And i would like to see him back home at the Blues. But i reckon it could turn out like Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.Couldnt live without each other, couldnt live with each other......................seriously,it is very much like the Chris Tarrant Pies scenario. He was a BIG problem child for the pies with big issues and has returned without blemish.Nothing is impossable if you put your mind to it.
