I'm not from Melb and only started watching game day this year (coz we are winning tough) and he seems to genuinely like us.

Am I right or don't I know him well enough?

Lucky for Curnow that Montagna is softer than butter on a summers day.

St Kilda midfielder Leigh Montagna suspended for one week for bump on Carlton's Ed Curnow

Today legendary North Melbourne hard man Glenn Archer labelled Montagna's bump "weak" and "un-Australian

Pity really, I would have liked him to play against the other sniping cauliflower on Sunday

I think you left out the best part:

Quote:
Koschitzke's bump was also investigated by the match review panel but he escaped penalty because he bumped Curnow's "good" shoulder which was strapped before the game, not the one he hurt in the first quarter.

He's pretty straight. Has a soft spot for the Dons but doesn't favour them as much as most.
I enjoy his work personally.

Just listening to some of the post match player comments it seems our boys were prepared for a Hawthorn (R9 2010) like approach from the saints in trying to rough us up, which they did.
This time, led by the skipper, we replied in kind at the 1/4 time break. A momentous statement to the rest of the competition that we're growing up fast and we wont be intimidated.
Well done Juddy and the boys. A huge step forward.

I just got back from the 1600 km journey to Melbourne to see the Carlton V St Kilda clash. It was exhilarating to see such a tight encounter, so exhilarating that when 1AW goaled with just over a minute to go I screamed and shouted with delight, jumped up and down, before blacking out (fainting) on the Carlton supporter in front of me (appologes to that fine member). Coming to, more subdued but with a smile plastered from ear to ear was one of the highlights of my football watching life.

This was the fourth win this season Carlton have come from behind in the final quarter and a bit. Richmond, Adelaide, Sydney and St Kilda. The 2011 version of the navy blues is a harder more determined team, who are relentless when the game is on the line. Prior versions of the Blue brigade might not have had the poise and bloody mindedness to claim those hard fought wins which at seasons end will surely tell.

The Blues started well with strong rebounding from the back half lead by Chris Yarran who is not an acknowledged super star yet but rest assured the league will know what we already do, this kid is very talented and a real find for our footy club. When ever he gets the ball I feel comfortable he will use it well. He could castrate a Bee from 40 metres, his use is just that good. I thought the work of Scotto was first rate and he mopped up quite a lot of our sloppy work up the ground and repelled their continued attacks. Jamo soundly beat Riewoldt and his use at 100 % efficiency was world class. He has taken his game to another level this year and we are benefiting from it. Gibber consigned Goddard to a bit part in the match and I liked what I saw from Gibbs. He can shut down league big names and that is a valued attribute. Didn't think AJ was up to speed last night. Should have been taken off Milne sooner. Think he might struggle to retain his spot next outing. Another plus was the big Irishman. He rucked well and chipped in with some valuable touches, some pin point passing and a very valuable goal late on. Well done Carlos.

Like the Essendon* game there were some concerning signs and clear brain fades during some very tight moments. Simmo coughed it up while deep in our half and our skipper kicked down a St Kilda defenders throat in the dying moments. Our shots on goal were not of the standard of an AFL side. Last nights game should have been in the fridge chilling mid way through the third term. We got away with those errors and lets all hope we learn from them and composure rules in future. Speaking of composure how was Walkers nerve with the game on the line? If he has not silenced his critics yet, then he never will. That Andrew Walker was from the very top drawer and as a life long Carlton fan I salute you.

Meanwhile, the quarter-time melee of Monday night's game has prompted fines to the total of $12,300 if all players involved take an early guilty plea.

Carlton captain Chris Judd has been hit hardest with two fines; he can accept $1800 for instigating the melee, and then a further $1200 for partaking.

Carlton players Aaron Joseph, Heath Scotland, Mitch Robinson and Marc Murphy have all been offered $1200 sanctions for first offences of engaging in a melee.

Saints David Armitage and Sam Gilbert have been hit with the same fine while Jason Gram is up for $2100 with an early plea as his is a second offence.

Watching AFL Insider and Chris Scott said he didn't agree with Montagna's actions. Would have been the perfect opportunity to show Brad Scott crashing into Riewoldt in similar fashion.

Very happy that he showed some fight as that's not who he is. That he was pi55ed off enough was great see him show emotion.
