That's a fair point, and the reason behind Collingwood's enormous membership growth I'd suggest.

I got a text message yesterday from Collingwood asking me to buy an ANZAC day membership. How did they get my phone number?!?

I seem to recall Brad receiving a similar call up from Essendon*?

Are you both AFL members? Perhaps you were mistakenly selected or catalogued in the membership database.

Nope. I dunno how they got it, but I 'opted out' right away anyway.

Yet Richmond are also ahead of us

Nah, nothing from Essendon* here.

Could be a mate playing a prank?

Apologies - clearly I unconsciously found the figure to be disappointing.

No idea what the actual date is for that figure, might not have been updated since the 40k announcement.

Does anyone know if it's possible to change my reserved seats once they've already been allocated?

I bought two memberships as I have for a couple of years now, one for me and one for my little 10yo brother. We were late to renew so we got new seats this season, love the position of the seats, great view.

But I went to the game last night and discovered the seats were located next to the 3 biggest psycho's out there. They were abusive, loud, violent and out of control. Kicking and hitting the seats around them that were vacant more than once.

I took a friend instead of my brother last night because it was my 21st the night before and we went out in the city afterwards. I know I wont be taking my little brother to a game at Etihad unless they're changed. They were so intimidating we had to move away from them.

I'll call the membership dept on Wednesday about it but thought I would ask on here. If you're in Aisle 33, towards the back your probably heard them.

I have changed my a couple of times to get closer to my brother and his mates (who at times can be a bit psycho but far from intimidating)

But I have always done mine before teh season - you can only ask I suppose???

That's the reason I stopped buying a reserved seat. Fair dinkum I love my club and have a strong opinion, but some of those members need to get a grip. Embarrassing.

I just sit top level GP these days with the families who attend once in a while.

I go to every game in Melbourne and I can get pretty vocal as well (especially after a few drinks), it's what makes going to the games so great. These guys were something else though. They just drove me insane and other members of the crowd weren't happy either. Especially those with children.

Hopefully the club will be able to arrange something, otherwise I might have to think twice before renewing my brothers membership next season.

Long weekend, so people generally head out of town or to see family.

I thought it was a good turnout considering the long weekend and it was an interstate team

40199 from carlton website, must be a joke only 50+new m/ships in a week.we may have supporters but we lack members surely by the 5th week of the season we would have 42000 + members ,we cant sell even
3 game memberships. SOMETHING IS TERRIBLY WRONG  As a member since 1968 continuously I am very ashamed that clubs like Hawthorn ( even with the Tas Memberships)+ Richmond ( the most unsuccessful club in 30 years) have more members than us.I am not including the Scum or the Filth. But I will give their supporters credit they do put there money where their mouths are.CARLTON SHAME SHAME SHAME

If that's the truth I'd say the supporters are not convinced success is closer than last year.

A pity because I think it is, but even I have grown weary of the wait.

If we'd run the Pies close and beaten the Bombers convincingly I think you'd have seen another 5000 sign up straight away.

I wont go as far as questioning the passion of those working in memberships, but I agree with hotspur, there is something drastically wrong.
I bet 100's would have hung up when trying to become members because the wait for someone to answer the call is too long and tedious.
