I am tipping No Change.

My next guess is out Grigg in Lucas.

Surely Yarran would keep his spot. I'd hate to see him get dropped, especially after playing well last week.

For some reason, I like T-bird on the forward line. He can take a mark and seems comfortable enough kicking for goal. Granted I know he hasn't kicked many in his career, but I feel he could make a more worthwhile contribution up forward. At least it might stop him kicking sideways. Or backwards.

Let's break down the Doggies squad as best as possible here:

Rucks
-----------
Hudson
Roughead

Key Backs
-----------
Lake
Williams
Hargrave
Morris

Small Backs
-----------
Harbrow
Gilbee
Murphy
Wood

Key Forwards
-----------
Hall
Grant
Everitt

Small Forwards
-----------
Johnson
Stack
Hooper

Midfield
-----------
Higgins
Griffen
Boyd
Picken
Giansiracusa
Eagleton
Cooney
Cross
Ward

LEGEND:
Extended bench (unlikely inclusion)
Extended bench (possible inclusion)
Extended bench (probable inclusion)

Hooper is a rookie elevation and not a likely inclusion as they are ok up forward, which is pretty much his only position at this point in his career. Given we play a two-tall forward set up Williams is also unlikely, while Wood as a form small defender is likely to remain in the side. Roughhead, Stack (already a definite) and Everitt replace Minson, Reid & Hahn respectively, which leaves a coin flip as to who is the fittest: Eagleton or Ward.

Eagleton has been rested regularly this season and could be in good nick given a 3 week break from the rigours of senior football, while Ward has had a good month back in the VFL. I'm banking on Ward. That gives the Dogs a tall forward line, a defence which is reasonably suited to playing our forward line, and a ruck rotation. Their usual midfield unit persists.

Given that 22, it's a valid choice by the MC to include 4 tall defenders, and retain Hampson to rotate in the ruck and stretch the Dogs back line with his height. I don't see any reason at all to drop either Yarran or Armfield as both teams will be looking to bring the ball to ground at times in their forward lines. Wiggins poses a match-up issue for them, but he hasn't played senior footy all year and this is not the side to get the ball rolling with.

That leaves Robbo, Lucas & Grigg vying for one spot on the team. I've got to go for Lucas; Robbo has definitely improved in the last month or so but will be useless inside against Cross & Boyd, and useless outside against this midfield; Grigg was utterly hopeless and seized his chance like he would a wet bar of soap. Lucas went back to the VFL and demanded a spot in the team; put him at half-back and make life difficult for the Dogs on the rebound as they try and close down on one of Bower, Lucas, Armfield, Russell, Joseph... etc

In: Bower, Lucas
Out: Grigg, Robinson

I think, on form, Army should be dropped. Has not had a great 2 weeks.. Feel we need to persist with Grigg as I;m concerned about our inside midfielders for this game

I'd rather chance it with some combination of Murphy, Gibbs, Judd, Carrazzo, Walker & Scotland; Robinson isn't ready for that sort of role physically, and Grigg was genuinely useless. Better to have a bloke in the team that will contribute, than one who won't but ticks a box on a check-list.

I agree, Army has not had a great 2 weeks but I wanna see him in the midfield. There's such speed and charisma about the way he plays and what better way to get him playing good footy then to throw him in the midfield rotations. Get him to throw his weight around. A bit like Robinson was doing at the start of the year.

Normally if a player comes in they get at least 2 weeks so I would think Grigg would get another go but it's no lock in.

Would like all inclusions to play, i think Wiggins would be handy.......
I wanted Joseph to miss out as number one, the other two i wasn't sure.....unfortunately probably two of the following out of: Grigg, Robbo & Hoops...

But Joseph & Hoops on the ground so hopefully we're left with Hammer, Army, Yarran & Lucas meaning overly that Outs: Robbo & Grigg......Ins: Bower & Lucas

Interesting game and you wonder who is feeling the pressure more . I would suggest the Doggies would be feeling it more than us but serious ramifications for the loser

It is one team where Fev used to have a pinic and was often the difference

Cant wait to see the final line up

hampson MUST step up this week, or out for warnock!

I believe we cannot, CANNOT, afford to carry grigg for a game against this mob, way too risky, if he has another game like last week it will be effectively 21 v 22. had a shocker and i don't believe for 1 second that a player should be given 2 weeks to 'settle in' regardless of form, that is crap! If you have a game such as he did last week you're out, we have depth people, why risk carrying an out of form player?? this is must win.

Lucas will play and by geez i would love to see him float around half back and release gibba to play strictly on ball with murph and judd. This will tear the SOFT dogs mids a new one!

And Johnno.
It will be a cracker of a game with both teams trying to finish the weekend in 5th position. The loser will go to 7-9 depending on results. This is the most important game we have for weeks.

Houla on Lake. OK Lake will take marks but Houla is versatile as a defensive forward and has the knack of finding himself alone in space. The other option is to put someone like Hampson propped in the square so Lake can't stray. Running downfield won't work with him as he is smart enough to realize his man won't kick goals from outside 60 metres.
He is just one bloke. He loves to mark the footy so if he is on someone miles taller than him who stays behind, he will have to spill enough for the small forwards to harvest.

Options galore.

Hall is a worry but if we win the midfield clearances like we usually do against them, he won't get too many chances. They will miss Minson. Johnno will get Joseph and Murphy will get Russell.

I thought Army was v.impressive 2nd half vs Brions

Agreed on both. Yaz, Eddie and Jeff seem to play at their best when they're all on the field and Yaz was pretty good last week.

T-Bird is useful to chuck in the foward line from time to time. Hasn't he kicked more goals this year than his entire career?! From that limited amount he seems a good kick for goal.

Army was bobbing up and sprinting everywhere last week.
Was one of our best imo.
Those after burners are needed in the modern game and especially against the Doggies.

Grigg was that bad last week I wouldn't be surprised if the Blues reintroduced him against the WCE...to keep up with the pace.

Hammer has to play.

Tough game.
