We've won one game out of the last 11 against Freo. A win by one point would do me.

Stand 2 would be undercover. I'm stand 17, in the pocket just across from you.

I fail to see why its imperative the Blues win by a cricket score or similar. It might be nice for a bit a chest banging and saying something like "wow we are the best we won by 60 points" but at the end of the day it does not count for much bar percentage.

Lets get the four points and move on....

%%%%% will play a massive role in a even year.

May even be the difference between getting a second chance or not.

You're obviously not old fashioned Carlton supporters. We now have one of the best lists in the comp. Freo the worst taking into account their injuries. If we can't win by a big margin I'll be disapointed. If we lose I'll be furious.

You can be happy with a scrape-in win if you like, but that will mean we're a long way behind StKilda and all those other bastards that have flogged us in the past 7 years.

Enough is enough, another Richmond type margin will make me happy.

Maybe so - but if your one, two, three or more games ahead of the challenging teams then %% wont matter. Id prefer to have a points superiority than a percentage one. Also, I don't think we have enough consistent multiple goal scorers to be able to be a team that can win by cricket scores or similar. This teams focus should be to win games and not be concerned so much by what margins.

Hmmm, you'll have to explain "old fashioned Carlton supporter" for me.
Does that mean I'm less of a supporter if I just hope to win?
I'm more than happy to win by a bigger margin but the theory that "we've gone nowhere" if we dont win by more than 5 goals baffles me.
Surely if we just win, that displays significant improvement in itself. :?

I don't think it matters if I am not old fashioned or not - to me if we win then thats all that matters.

Also, news flash for you - we ARE way behind St Kilda on the basis of their performances this year. THere no way in hell we are going to get near their kind of percentage - hence my preference to win as many games as possible and hopefully get ahead on games won rather than be overly concerned about percentage.

Having said all that - if we lose against Freo, then yes I will be FURIOUS as well.

In the old days we'd go to see the Blues absolutely smack the oposition. We'd trample on teams and it was fun. They hated us because we were good.

A couple of years ago I went along to the MCG with about 8,000 other Blues fans and watched in horror as the Dockers did to us what we use to do to others. I don't get off on that.

We have now built a side with some of the best footballers in the comp. They are struggling.

I want to PULVERIZE them.

PULVERIZE, POUND, CRUSH and SMASH them.

Of course I'll still be happy if we win by any amount to an extent, but I don't have to just hope for a win of any margin. We should have beaten Essendon*, probably Hawthorn as well - we need to make another statement.

Kill, crush!!

..not meaning to sound negative, but strength bodywise Pav would push aside our midfielders easily.. ..and i mean easily.. ..sure, Sandy's hitouts aren't always to adv, but with Pav in the guts they would be.. ..plus with such a big body in there Haselby will have an easier time and he's good with clearance work.. ..gonna need to keep the intensity ramped up in the guts all day long i reckon..

..as for needing Pav in their F50, with him not in the guts freo wont get the ball down to their F50..

..as for big win over freo, i agree.. ..and its about more than just percentage.. ..burying opponents and losing by small margins will really help build the confidence of the team.. ..and usually you bury teams by being switched on and hungry for 4 Q's.. ..and thats the footy we want/need to play consistently..

So.....

Hampson's gotta come in, with his big leap will have the best chance at nullfying Sandilands' impact. With Hampson doing a lot of ruck work, KROOOOZ can spend more time forward, and hance we can drop Cloke who was very ordinary last week. The other option is Cloke a straight swap for Austin. But I'd rather see Aussie a backman releasing Waite.

Bentley's gotta go. Should never have been in there in the first place and this seemed pretty obvious to everyone except for the MC. Who to bring in for him? One of Hadley, Anderson, Banno, Grigg, Browne.... Or is Yarran maybe the surprise inclusion?

Would love to see Ando or Yarran get a run.

YARRAN !!!!!!!!

I have been hearing a whisper that this might just be the right game to introduce him. The story goes that they used last week to freshen him up rather than the supposed hamstring tightness. The logic is to introduce him against a weaker opponent and a low attended game so as not to have him overawed. Don't be surprised if he is in the squad tonight. :smoking:

My spies tell me that Yazza is in fact in the squad and on his way up here. Don't know who has made way yet, but the same source thought that there was at least another inclusion. Austin, Hampson or Hadley, I'm guessing. We will see soon enough.

Rumour is Yarran in and maybe Setanta and/or Houlihan out.

Won't be upset to see Houla dropped. Thought he was exposed last week for being slow and also fumbled a lot early which is a tell tale sign he was sheeting himself with the tough likes of Hodge and Sewell lurking

Could be

OUT
Setanta
Houlihan
Bentley

IN
Austin (or Hampson)
Yarran
Hadley

Cloke gets a reprieve, which doesn't surprise (though I do disagree).

Someone on CSC suggests that maybe Yarran will be picked.

The suggestion is that he was rested to give him fresh legs, introduce him to a weaker opposition and a small crowd...ease him in.

The other suggestion made (inside info? ) that Setanta will be replaced for The Hammer to play in front of his home crowd. Hammer selection would be good. Houla's ommission is also the other suggestion.

So Wiggo instead of Houla  well I'll be [REDACTED].

I'll be furious if Setanta's dropped and Cloke stays, but I'll wear it.

If Cloke stays then he can shepherd Pav out at the centre bounces and then run straight to the interchange bench.

I'd rather have the Setanta, Hammer and Kreuzer rotation happening, Sandy will not ruck for the whole 100 minutes, and when that happens Kreuzer forward would be a dream.

I just can't believe the above, but happy about Yarran and Hammer if it happens.

When I went watched Carlton vs NM last year at Carrara, it was a shoot out. Over 20 goals from both teams. We played very well.

I hope we get our forwardline functioning well at Carrara this Saturday.

Looking forward to the team announcement and the game.

A win will do, but if we trounce them we obviously deserved it.

YARRAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If Setanta's out it'd have to be either Hammer or Austin.. I'll have a stab and sat Hammer because of Sandilands.. and playing in QLD

So
In: Yarran Hampson Hadley/Anderson

Out: Hoops Carlos Bentley
