The club needs a museum. Yes, the footy department funding must take priority, but a museum we can be proud of is a must.

We've endured some shit times in recent years and having our history on show would be a great way to ensure that anyone who sees it is in awe of the great things the club and its players have achieved.

A message for you Greg Swann:

Make it happen.

Why not under the Gardiner Stand?

Greg Swann should understand that a museum isn't a money making proposal. It's somewhere you can go to remember, reflect and immerse your kids into the proud history of the Carlton Football club. Whether I go there 1 time or 50 is irrelevant.
Our club too often expects our proud history to set standards for the players and dwells on our successes as some sort of inbred expectation yet fails to foster and preserve it.
A disappointing stance from the guardians of our club IMO.

Thank God the "Spirit of Carlton" group was formed by former players and staff to preserve and reunite some aspects of our history. Not to forget the hardworking people behind the Blueseum.

+ 1

The benefits from a museum should be measured in terms of brand awareness, supporter retention, increased memebrship and merchandise sales not just ticket sales revenue, that is short sighted. It is an opportunity to display our rich history and proud heritage. As previously mentioned, Swann may be looking at the idea from a purely commercial point of view, as he does not have the same emotional links that we do.

Seems the players are using their new facilities.

Is the whole thing ready then? launched?

Can we go and see it? Is my name up on the wall yet?

Tell me more...

Doubt the names are up yet otherwise the club would be advertising it on their website. Hopefully it's there to see on Family Day.

Even poor old Richmond erected a Jack Dyer statue outside Punt Road seven years ago, yet we missed the chance to honour our AFL legends as part of the redevelopment.

A statue of Nicholls should have graced the entrance to Visy Park.

Big Nick's stare would still scare the pants off a few of his former opponents as they entered the ground.

Yet we never miss a chance to name a stand after a President who didn't play a game for Carlton.

At the very least there should be a giant CFC logo on the new building.
