The last 10 years of pick #3:

2014 - A Brayshaw
2015 - C Mills
2016 - H McCluggage
2017 - P Dow
2018 - I Rankine
2019 - L Jackson
2020 - W Phillips
2021 - F Callaghan
2022 - H Sheezel
2023 - J Walter

Although, given that Ashcroft will likely be bid on in the top few selections we'll actually probably end up with #4:
2014 - J Pickett
2015 - C Oliver
2016 - B Ainsworth
2017 - L Davies-Uniacke
2018 - M King
2019 - L Ash
2020 - L McDonald
2021 - N Daicos
2022 - G Wardlaw
2023 - Z Duursma

How many points would we need for both campo's. those picks will move to the 50's.

I hope no one bids till at least 3rd round. Worried about that pri$% SOS.

We currently have 239 points (not including pick 3) and get a 20% discount on the bid = appx. late round 3 bid.
Plus we can go into deficit.
We should be ok.

Sad to lose Matt Owies. He was one of my favourite players. He provided so much energy.

Whoever got Fantasia in to the club should hang his head in shame. What a daft selection that was. Because of that we lose Owies. Not smart if one considers that Fantasia's last good year of football was in 2017. That's football trading though, for every smart decision there is a dumb decision to replace it.

But pick 3 is better than pick 12. Let's hope they make up for some daft decisions in the past.

We get a 197 point discount - the 20% applies to 1st rd picks only.

All our late picks will roll forward 5-8 slots based on lions, suns, dons etc matching bids. So we will probably have around 500 points when we have to match Ben Campo. It's around 530-550 points to match a pick at 33/34. Less 197 points and we only need 330-350 points

Hahah West Coast fans are seriously melting.

We also got 63 and 68 from them for 73 so that helps with Campo points.

Sounds like we'll be covered well and truly then.
We might even have some to spare on a late bolter.

Not sure why.
They only moved back 9 places, traded in a gun, got a bonus player that cost them nothing and keep Barrass.
It was a pretty fair deal, not the kind of deal that the Demons over paid for, but fair on both sides IMO.

But then again, maybe we got one back for the Kennedy Judd deal.

They think they could have got Owies for nothing , Baker for much less (or nothing/PSD) and kept pick 3

A lot also want Barrass to go because he wanted to leave anyway.

I'm definitely maybe on the fence when I read it like this…

So we’ve effectively given pick 12 plus next years first and second picks and Owies for pick 3. That’s a hell of a lot to pay for one kid.

Austin really putting his neck on the line here. Get this wrong and it could set the club back a long way

…but feel a little better when I read it like this…

The trade:
Pick 3 = 2234
Pick 63 = 112
Pick 68 = 59
Total = 2405

WCE
Pick 12 = 1268
Pick 14 = 1161
Pick 73 = 9
Total = 2438

The trade cost us 33pts (pick 71) and Owies.

Not too bad.

By the time draft night comes around I'll be all aboard pick #3 and won't be at all surprised if they just present him with the cup on the night. Then the AFL can have season 2025 off while we tour the country as current premiers.

They’ll still do that deal for Barrass.

Take the future 1 & 2 from Hawks and they have more than enough to get an extra first this year if they want.

IN:
Pick 3 - 2,234pts
2025 R2 (Bris) - between 317-382pts for top 4

OUT:
Pick 12 - 1,268pts
Pick 34 - 542pts
2025 R1 - between 836-973pts for top 4
2025 R2 - between 317-382pts for top 4
Owies

Given we were prepared to delist Owies, that’s a fairly well balanced outcome… so far.

We’ve moved into the top 5 for the price of a 2nd round pick.

just read we're going to offer mcmahon from the reggies a deal too. if not pre season draft, the supplemental one.

i like that ... 198cm and can move. could go forward or back and is just 22.

Austin is never going to win everyone over in such an emotive sport.

losing Owies was tough given Orazio being contracted.

however, clearly we wanted to inject a more dynamic midfielder and we have set ourselves up to do that with a very high end pick and if we secure Grainger Barras and put McMahon onto the rookie list we are making progress at filling our gaps.

the Campo boys, who knows how good they are or could be. they have been playing all sorts football and potentially been managed to keep a low profile.

be great to add something zest to our forward line, then again maybe that's about given Moir a full go at it.

all in all....congrats to Austin for following and executing a strategy. the alternate was to pay overs for another HBF'r

Apparently St. Kilda are keen on Kemp (Silvagni drafted him).

pick 3 or picks 12 and 14 (sliding to 14 and 15)?

both look good in a strong draft. in a weak draft pick 3 looks better. i wouldn’t have minded a Patrick Cripps (went ~13 in the draft) type at pick 12 or 13 and a Nic Watson type of gun mobile/smaller forward at pick 14 but let’s see what happens with our pick 3. shouldn’t be too much room for error!

The way Melbourne trades we could probably get Oliver thrown in too.

Worth at least pick 8.
