Not saying that's what's happening. But how it feels. All meedya driven of course.

What can't be disputed is that a good percentage of the footy world don't want anything good to ever come our way. The narratives driven during this trade period is just another example of this.

What, like Buckenara saying Stewart to Essendon* for pick 59, or to us (with Marchbank and Stewart) for 5 and a second rounder ;-)

Objectively?

Look at the premiers. About to lose Hambling, Hrovat and Stevens. The runner up have a key midfielder and a key forward walking out on the club.
The previous premier lost their B&F and runner up B&F.
"Drama! Drama! players are leaving the club". Sadly, MF, it happens to all clubs. You'll have to find another angle to sook about the club. This one has run out of gas.

It's a business now.
Much more than a game sadly..

Loyalty is dead.

Sadly, very true. If you can get your head around it, you will feel better and less frustrated.
I'm not quite there yet but working on it....

Kreuzer say's Hi!

Heck, i may be a bit of a romantic, but i still think there is loyalty in football. Look at Leicester City.
They could have easily sold the likes of Mahrez, Vardy etc etc but they rewarded them instead.

And the flip side of that coin, Vardy & Mahrez could have easily left and demanded millions but they chose to stay.

Talk of loyalty has always been one way. Clubs have never been loyal to players - not in my life time anyway.

Once I realised this I kinda forgave Hamill, I wasn't mad about Jacobs, Waite, Betts or Garlett, and I don't care about Gibbs or Thuoy as long as we're compensated.

Follow the club, not the players if you're going to expect loyalty.

I don't see it as necessarily a bad thing if we don't do any trades, keep our players and go to the draft.
Much preferable than selling players for "unders" or trading away good picks for players not able to make it at other clubs.

Getting "deals done" is not the be-all end-all.

I remember at the end of the "Crazy Vossy" trade period that Brisbane were being lauded as the big winners. Easy to confuse activity with success. Truth is it could well be 5 years before we really know anyway. Doesn't suit the need for instant gratification though.

We have to trade Touhy. He's uncontracted.
If he says he won't play for us we will have to delist him.

He didn't want to stay......... He wanted out and from my understanding wanted to be a part of London based football. Not even the prospect of Champions League football could keep him.

Leicester offered him the chance to stay, quite a few times but he chose to leave.

Leicester profited some £25million out of it anyway (after signing him in 2015 for approx £4.5mil)

Right on big fella............if we have to do it the hard way through the draft so be it.

So it looks like

In: Marchbank (1st round pick), Pickett (1st round pick), Smedts (1st round pick), 2016 3rd round pick from GWS

Out: Tuohy, 2 x 3rd round picks, 2017 1st round pick from Geelong, 2017 2nd round pick.
