Then I saw this

Only 6 Carlton players have kicked more than 3 goals this year
No mids have kicked more than 3 goals

Ess have 16
Melb 18
West Coast have 10

Slow ball movement and only kicking to the talls

Makes sense….

we kick the LEAST amount of goals on the run
from 50m…that’s your mids doing their job…!

not to mention huge momentum moments…!

kindest regards tommi

It says more about our midfielders to me.
Too slow and can't kick.
I doubt their instruction is to not kick goals from the centre clearance.

Cripps kicked 20 last year.

Cripps won the brownlow last year are you suggesting that its Voss's game plan that might prohibit Cripps from winning the brownlow this year?

I'm thinking the Brownlow year is the only one in the past 5 that Crippa has actually been fit.

I have no idea why Cripps is not playing well this year.

To my eye he doesn't look hampered by any injury though.

His kicking has been terrible.
20 goals 9 behinds in 2022
1 goal and 9 behinds in 2023.

I have read/heard a few times the last few weeks about how we are getting a lot of shots from bad positions on the ground, so maybe that is playing a role.

I think Cripps is not playing well as he is not trusting his team mates. He is trying to do too much. And the opposition has worked him out. He is not a smart footballer, just operates on grunt. So if someone with some body size is on him with footy smarts and speed, then he will get beaten. He doesnt the speed to go with his opponent.

He simply doesnt have the tricks. If he cant crash and bash himself through, then he is basically useless.

I dont think he has the mentality to deal with a tag, he puts his head down and doubts himself. And then the mistakes come.

This is the cold hard truth.

We are miles off Melbourne 2020. That side had already won finals & played in a prelim

You have missed the point entirely.

It is about the fact they were on the up then had a backward step then regained their form.

I actually do believe that the 2 last games last year were proxy finals for us.
The record books won't show them as finals but the importance of the games and the way the games were played out, they felt like finals.

Shame it has all fallen over since then.

If we are being honest, our heroic efforts in those 2 games, with a lot of key mids out, was really more about effort than system. We stank it up after RT10 generally. Those last 2 games were outliers, even though we still lost.

Ah, such is the Carlton way.

Vossy’s first comment to the players when he first turned up was “ get comfortable being uncomfortable “ , loose to the druggies and I might suggest that he ,along with the players and other coaches will definitely feel uncomfortable. We simply must win this game .

You can't blame external circumstances (coaching, winning, losing) for the internal effort of players.
That is for the player alone to change and control.
And right now they are failing miserably.

And if they are doing it on purpose to boot the coach, they are not team first minded and need to be moved on.

I may be wrong , but I’m sure it was Vossy . I just hope like all hell we win . Go to the break with some semblance of confidence.

Maybe Vossy stole it from Bolton

Maybe it's why we are stuck in a whirlpool of mediocrity?
......

Sadly the other end of Bolton's time......after a loss to....Essendon*

Yeah that was Bolton.
Vossy's first comment was what can you do to make your teammates better.
So far they have shown nothing to make their teammates better.

I reckon they were up early but have dropped their bundle which is an indictment on the leadership.

Look the coaching has been terrible and the players are sooks.

Therein lies the chrysalis of our woes.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Voss has said it too.
