Delisting Gowers after one season would be a huge mistake. Kid has done nothing but improve since he came through the door and had plenty of talent to begin with.

Jamison has a contract and seems right for 2016.

Not sure about improving but he hasn't been terrible either. Better than Luke Reynolds who we let go after one year. We also almost took Gowers in the National Draft.

He was predicted to go in the 3rd/4th round range, so we did fairly well out of rookie pick 6. His interrupted year and a general consensus that he's currently not an out-and-out midfielder saw him slide. Very talented for his projected draft range.

For a raw recruit who would be taking up $35k on TPP you can't do much better.

Hasn't excited me so far but I haven't seen him much live. Happy for him to be given another year. In the end he's no where near our biggest issue.

If what has been rumoured (re: Yarran, Henderson etc) is true, it would seem clear that SOS' mission is to clear out players who still have currency, but won't be part of our next premiership campaign.

I'd have no issue with this strategy. I'd rather we take the time to build a dominant team and culture together than continue to potter along in the mid/low-card on the road to nowhere. For too long we've held onto players until their value has dropped (or out of necessity for some off-field ****up) and received little/nothing in return.

#17 needs to be the goal above all else, and if this means painful decisions now, then so be it.

Spots available in my mind on the Carlton list next year:

PRIMARY
Watson -delisted
Warnock -delisted
Jones -delisted and contract paid out
Tutt -delisted
Ellard -delisted
Henderson -trade
Yarran -trade

ROOKIE
Johnson -delisted
Walsh -delisted
Russell -delisted

10 spots and plenty of opportunity to regenerate.

Why delist Walsh?

Because I don't think he can play in a premiership at Carlton and would rather recruit another 18yo who might.

I like the optimism, but i don't think Judd will go around next year.
Carrazzo is likely to be an umpire

At Kreuzer's age, 550k per year for 4 years should be enough to activate band 1 compo. I mean, the AFL gave it to Melbourne for Frawley. Call them out on their corruptness. They were prepared to give it to Lions for Leuey.

You are getting close to the mark here.

If Carlton was called Brisbane then band 1 compo would be a given.
Carlton is in a crowded Melbourne market and is expendable.
Brisbane is in a market of 1.8 million people and is more important to the AFL.

Isn't it great seeing two ex-Carlton players in the top 3 of the Coleman Medal. That Eddie Betts deal Genius!
Also, Jacobs. The club's best ruckman released and instead Warnock and Kreuzer are kept around. Genius!

And they shouldn't have traded Garlett...but by now one is used to trading ineptitude.

Why watch Carlton when you can watch ex-Carlton players play well for other teams?

Its a good strategy although from the looks of it, most of the clearing out will occur this year. IF we go down that path, we should look to acquire a few future picks if possible to de-risk any inherent weaknesses in the draft

Pick 1/2 + 1st Rounder for Hendo + 1st Rounder for Yazz + our 2nd Round Pick being Pick 19-21 (catering for any free agency compo) = 4 picks in the Top 21 + Aish/Carlisle for zilch via PSD. Could be a a pretty good start to a rebuild me thinks.
The challenge is to NAIL our picks, and we could set up a dynasty.

My gut tells me Hendo and Menzel will be bundled to Geelong for 1st and 2nd rounder and walker

Hendo been regularly meeting with Chris Scott, and Hardwick was part of the Tiges clan that met with Yazz.
Both seem 100% gone!!

That comment from Hutchy about Lachie was tongue in cheek. But yes he's gone after we told him to find a new home. Good on him.

Why would Hendo be put in the leadership group, and the later in the year be 'told to find a new home' ?

Just waiting to see Yarran and Henderson tearing it up in finals in 2 years time whilst we delist whoever we picked (a la Kane Lucas or Bootsma) with the picks we received for them!
