you're kidding right?

Do you attend AGMs?

Have you ever received the postal vote material the clubs sends when board directors are up for re-election?

Cretylus - you're horribly out of touch... Have you been hiding in Abbottobad? Most of the current board members weren't voted onto the board - they were placed onto the board. Democracy died years ago at Carlton. Probably around the time Ralph Carr paid for a seat.

Can someone with more knowledge on these matters than me answer these questions:

1. Why was Fahour unable to get the numbers to become President?
2. Why was Newton deemed "inappropriate" per Caro's article?
3. What does LoGiudice bring to the table other than an apparent closeness with the Pratts and Mathiesons?

I don't mind Robbo sometimes, but while he is dribbling through another meaningless emotional rant Caro is doing her job. Y'know, that of a journalist.

I don't know how best to relate my image of Robbo's living arrangements, but its fair to say it's less than flattering. He kind of looks like he sleeps in the back of a Holden station wagon half the time, surrounded by a generously populated graveyard of Big Mac wrappers, tins of Light Ice (because he's watching his figure) and ransacked cigarette packets.

Hope this challenge transpires!!

Hope is all we have left really.

This club is desperately in need of change in so many areas. Nothing i have seen from anyone associated with the board inspires me with confidence that they recognise that fact or have any intention of driving anything more than cosmetic changes.

The club needs to change its direction and i can't see this happening with the incumbents remaining in power and just shuffling a few titles.

There needs to be a spill of the board and ALL members afforded a say in the future direction of the club.

It's time the club became accountable.

I said this in that skanky Scouser thread, but it may bear repeating here and if not, too bad!

I like Steve Kernahan the player. I love Kernahan the player! I really, really dislike Kernahan the administrator. He lacks everything he gave us on the field. Actually, that's not true. Kernahan the administrator is one big helicopter punt. But not the one that went through against North, the one that missed the lot against Essendon*.

A concern for me is the reactionary nature of this reportedly soon to be occurring clean-out.

Robbo was talking about Swann being gone at next week's board meeting. Why, because the fans are pointing the finger at him? His performance has been the same long before the last few weeks.

I think it'd be remiss of us or anyone to say he's not done a good job at the Carlton Football Club. From where we were when he took over to where we are now is night and day - at least off field. His achievements are commendable, but every road reaches a junction eventually. He's taken the Club as far as he is able to.

It's like the last days of Rome. Those in power can feel it slipping and are desperately holding on to authority that carries less weight, relevance or respect with each passing minute. They're performing deeds that reek of self preservation and pandering; actions undertaken only to get those that are on their backs either on side or off their trail for a brief time.

So Swann goes and is scapegoated in place of them. Seems about right.

I'm not sure what our debt sits at, but as I said in a thread a few days ago these 'powerful' families treating the club as something between a status symbol and a play-thing are no good to us unless they eradicate it. They won't, because if they were going to it would already have happened.

I used the term "shit or get off the pot." Pay the debt off, be of some purposeful and positive consequence, or GTFO.

Now, I've a theory they don't pay off the debt because should they do so the shadow they cast over the club would shorten.

I mean, seriously. There are billionaires out there that support this club. Some of them sit on the board. If you're going to gatecrash the board and carry on like you're an integral part of the process, at least do the one thing that would genuinely help. Open up your web banker and perform a funds transfer. Little more old school? No problems, write us a cheque. More back alley? A garbage bag stuffed with 50s will suffice.

We need to sack the place and burn it to the ground, removing all remnants of the Pratt's and Mathieson's and start fresh. No more puppet masters. No more friends and family on the board. No more misguided notion their presence is essential to the prosperity of the club.

They've had long enough in their positions without providing the success they said they would.

Pretty much.

Why buy a club when you can control it through the drip feeding the debt.

Gets you seats on the board and once on the board this allows you to then also make sure nobody does anything stupid like find ways to pay off the debt.

They present themselves as benefactors when, in fact, they are te worst kind of corporate leech.

Once you accept that it's a privately owned team (in all but name) and your membership is nothing more than a guaranteed admission to home games then you sleep a lot easier.
