I didn't say I would walk naked up Bourke St in a stooped position, I said I would walk naked up and DOWN Bourke St in a stooped position.

By the way I have notes from my Physio and Tailor outlining that it will be quite impossible for me to honour my commitments.

Easily out coached the Essendon** coaching group yesterday. Our defensive structures were excellent which is also a credit to our on field leaders. Not just our back 6 but also our forward press was also exceptional. The difference in our team defence compared to when Malthouse was here couldn't be more stark.
Average footballers are playing their roles and with the support of an excellent structure, they are becoming vital components. It also offers the opportunity for players like Williamson to come in and flourish knowing they are well supported and instructed.

Special mention to Sam Rowe. His ability to shut out the oppositions best tall forwards is enabling our other defenders to play a more aggressive game.

Agree.
Start seeing some nice signs, especially in defence. Good communication and leadership being shown down back, also like the 'pointing' and kick outs (often with 'blocks' - YAY!). Need to see some more of these signs in general play too.

Also credit for playing and developing the kids.... I've always believed you learn and thrive when exposed to the highest demands.... Certainly showing for SPS, Macreadie and likely Williamson.... Forget Weitering , he's a freak anyway.
I would like to see Cunningham Jaksch BB get similiar 'lessons'!

Wet weather slow slog Sunday, and now a likely fast dry ground against a fast Suns. A good challenge for the Coach and his assistants to adapt the plans to a completely different set of circumstances. Going to need pressure up the ground to help defend Lynch and Wright with Matera at ground level.

Needed the pace
Gold Coast have plenty of pace
Need a good start
How exciting Bolts is playing all these young players and hopefully in a few years we are looking back at 2017 saying that was the year the platform was really built

Im happy to admit it, I went too early.

Maybe i'm retracting too early as well but the improvement in the small things i was very upset with after pre season and round 1 have improved out of sight in the last couple of weeks.

the kids are playing for him, and all reports seem to be about how much of a great footy & learning environment Bolton is/ has created.

This is a nice read that shows we are putting the right structures in place to develop players. http://www.aflplayers.com.au/article/pl ... d-pickett/

One thing that Bolton clearly doesn't tolerate is bruise free footballers.

You've got to be able to impact the game, get your own ball and pressure the opposition or you won't get a look in.

The days of picking up 15 bruise free possessions while the opposition runs rampant are gone.

3/10 for that effort.

Hope it was just a bad night because the lack of effort was matched by a lack of spark a general feeling of confusion when the game turned to shit.

1st half we seemed completely nailed to the game plan and kept our structure for the most part. It helped keep us close but it was so safe and dull We were no chance of winning .

Second half Port ran much much harder, structure fell apart, confusion set in and we lost our composure.

The most troubling thing was how lost many of the players looked and not just the kids.

Bolton doesn't miss easy shots on goal. 7.4 instead of 2.9 at half time and it's a different game.

Who is our forwards coach and what is he trying to achieve?

Were either outnumbered and forced/choose to bomb, or there's absolutely no one inside forward 50 with a line of defenders ready to flood back when we get the ball.
