IMO, those ins are better than the outs (except Pittonet...).
And with Charlie fit, Crippa fit I think we are ahead on the injuries ledger to this point this season.

The Kangas will probably bring in Coleman-Jones. H's the exact same guy that Mirkov would have been up against in the seconds had Xerri played. Play him and only put him up against CJ.

Playing Cripps is a band aid. Play the guy we recruited for that position.

Well played Blues21. Xerri is out injured and Coleman- Jones is replacing him.

The foot injury is a frustrating blow for the uncontracted Xerri, who had established himself as one of the side's best players in the first six weeks of this season after averaging 13.2 disposals, 22.5 hitouts and 3.3 clearances per game.

Quote:
However, the 22-year-old finished with 24 disposals, 37 hitouts, seven tackles and five marks in a VFL loss to Frankston last Sunday night and will now return to the side to partner veteran Todd Goldstein.

"We think 'Goldy' is going OK … he's an awkward forward to match up on, that's the methodology. He's also got great experience. We like the two rucks.

Hey, Mirkov is really under developed, but if there was a game where he could be trialled/ lamb to the slaughter/ developed or all the above its this week.

Listened to Petracca and Hawkins talking about how they spend 80% of their prep for a game focussed on their own game and 20% on the opposition and they back themselves in.
I'm looking forward to where we as supporters get confidence back in our team rather than worrying about the matchups with the bottom side in the comp. This isn't a dig at anyone, I'm as nervous about this game as anyone on here, just a hope for the near future.

We still won the 1987 Flag without the great Peter Motley.

Its up to the whole group to want to lift, find form, build synergy to get wins on the board and improve confidence and readiness for the Friday night game vs Effendruggies 150th Anniversary Game.

Several injured players are listed as to be Tested for consideration this week:

McDonald
Silvagni
McKay
Kennedy
Honey

McDonald would make a huge difference to our structure down back, pushing Young to an Intercepting 3rd tall in place of Parks and Plowman, or he gets pushed into the relieving ruck role.

Hopefully Jack and Harry come up, otherwise, Young would take the 2nd or 3rd tall forward role, if the above was the case.

We find out tonight at 6pm.

Must beat the junkies, should be the number 2 sim of every season (behind winning a flag)

It’s not Mirkov’s ruck skills that are so grossly undeveloped, it’s what he does once the tap work is done. He is really new to football as a game. I feel we’d be a player down the entire day except for when the ball is thrown up.

Agree. This would be the only game we could try Mirkov.

If Jack doesn't get up (and its not looking good), we can't afford to rob the backline height of Young 202 vs Goldstein 201 and Weitering 196 vs Larkey 198. Plowman Parks or Kemp would struggle against one of those 2 imo.

Zurhaar is their FF and he's 188cm but built like a brick shithouse. Way too strong for Plowman, so what chance does Parks have? or Kemp?

Might have to bring in Mirkov to give TDK some ruck relief each quarter...yes it means we are carrying one novice ... what's the choice?

I'm expecting a few changes this week.
We are playing the same system in the VFL and AFL sides.

OUT: Pittonet, Parks, Setterfield, Cottrell, Newnes, Fisher, Owies.
IN: Silvagni Kennedy Kemp Stocker Dow Carroll Motlop

B: Stocker Kemp Young
HB: Docherty Weitering Saad

R: DeKoning Cripps Cerra
C: Williams Hewett Walsh

HF: Martin Curnow Kennedy
F: Silvagni McKay Durdin

IC: Newman Dow Carroll Motlop

IF Silvagni doesn't get up, then Kemp is the 3rd forward and Plowman takes Zurhaar instead of Parks, and may have to find a spot for Mirkov, coz Young is the only one tall enough to take Goldstein in the forwardline.

If Harry and Jack don't come up, we will be challenged.

The theory Voss doesn't make wholesale changes went out the door a couple weeks ago vs Port with 6 changes. I'm just guessing, to see how I go against selected team.

We NEED McDonald back in the side badly imo.

Stephenson is the sort of player who would hurt us because you know we don't run two ways and all

If we lose this game it won't come as a major surprise

If we win by a narrow margin it'll be disappointing

If we belt them it'll be a surprise

I agree that Owies is a placeholder, but he’s easily our best-performed small forward. That’s a very low bar, but he might also be the only guy on our list with a winning record.

Similarly, as much as I detest Vossy’s interpretation of the role, Cottrell is pretty hard to drop after two goes at it. If the role gets the arse, then yeah, he’s a goner… til then though…

Young can cover Ruck work in defence and Harry in the fwd line, Cripps just does some work across the centre and wings while TDK is on the bench.

Either that or Young is second ruck and is replaced by Plowman or Parks in defence.

The only problem with that scenario is we are down one KPD or KPF at each contest.

Spot on.
I think the play will be (if there is no JSOS), TDK #1 ruck swapping with Young and TDK going into defence if needed.

It will be super interesting to see how we approach if Harry doesn't come up.
I think we played Melbourne or StK in the pre-season without Harry?

So... can our VFL side account for North's AFL side?
