Wtf is going on down there!

This is why I previously asked what the quality of our training grounds were.
IIRC the grounds are in good condition.
Confusing to say the least that we always have these type of injuries.

Ground was fully refurbished only 3 years ago

Doesn't mean it's not hard though. But the person I asked on here said it was in good condition.
The only other explanation is they are doing too much weight training and not enough stretching or we just have an unbelievable amount of injury prone players on the list.

Just burn our 'performance centre' down already

Jack Carroll - Finger
Charlie Curnow - Knee
Tom De Koning - Back
Zac Fisher - Ankle
Jack Martin - Knee
Brodie Kemp - Foot - "We feel he needs that 5-6 week block of football conditioning to be available."
Caleb Marchbank – Knee - Out for remainder of season.
Oscar McDonald - Back - "He's got a bone stress injury in his lower back... he could be up to three months out."
Nic Newman – Knee - "We feel he needs another 2-3 weeks of skills conditioning to be ready to play."
Jack Silvagni - Shoulder - Unavailable for Round 5. Recovery plan to be determined later in week.
Zac Williams – Calf - Test for selection.
David Cuningham - Concussion - Test for selection.

So... Newman will be clear to play around round 8, but probably in the VFL.
Kemp (to the VFL) Martin and Fisher (maybe the seniors) will all come back around round 10.
McDonald might be out until round 16.

Hard not to think this is really a shit show and will significantly impact our season.

God help us if Pittonet or Levi go down.

Questions need to be seriously asked about our so called fitness guru in Russell.
You can't help collision injuries and ACL'S But why are so many players with stress related injuries.
Williamson had it 2 years ago in his back.
Last season it was Kemp.
This season it's TDK, OMac and Fisher in his foot.
Then we have players doing calf's- Martin, Williams, Betts also Gov with a Hammy
I'm starting to think it's an absolute myth that Andrew Russell is any good.
Adam Saad hasn't missed a beat for 5 years yet after 3 rounds he is restricted with a knee injury.
OMAC has been very durable for the Dee's over the last 4 years yet after 4 rounds and 0 AFL games for us he suddenly has back stress ?????????

I'm starting to feel the same way. Very happy when we signed him. But geez, we seem to be on a tsunami of injuries that appear to be poorly managed. Just what is going on?

Has the club conducted a review on the sheer number of injured players?

Can't be bad luck as it's been happening for 10 years.. year on year.

Please conduct review on injury list and release results to public. Enough is enough.

Maybe hawthorn had players who would play through a niggle because missing a few weeks means someone else would take their spot. Maybe Hawthorn had blokes who weren't just happy to be picking up a pay-check for being on a list.

Just had a look at all injuries at all clubs, don't understand how some clubs can just have 3 or 4 injuries.

Having a lot injuries weakens our reserves and doesn't help to create a winning culture.

I don’t follow other clubs enough to know how we compare with the average number of games missed through injury across the competition over the past 5 years, but I’m assuming there is data somewhere about it. Anyone have a link?

While it does seem like we get more injuries than most clubs, it would be good to have some evidence to confirm that is the case.

Even more useful would be a breakdown of injury types, eg. number of games missed through stress related injuries at CFC vs the average number missed by other clubs due to stress injuries (back, foot).

Which of the currently injured Carlton players has a niggle which you think they ought to be playing through?

Here is the list, please be specific about the ones who would be running out this week if they had the same condition but were at Hawthorn:

Jack Carroll - Finger
Charlie Curnow - Knee
Tom De Koning - Back
Zac Fisher - Ankle
Jack Martin - Knee
Brodie Kemp - Foot
Caleb Marchbank – Knee
Oscar McDonald - Back
Nic Newman – Knee
Jack Silvagni - Shoulder
Zac Williams – Calf
David Cuningham - Concussion

Let me put it back - how many would be on the injury list if we were in September?
